I have an "Art tube MP mic pre" and a "Sansamp GT2".
Both use several of the cheap (crappy?) TL072CP (dual)operational amplifier chips.
Does any one have first hand experience with up-grading to other (higher quality) chips such as Burr-brown's OPA2604 (drop in replacement) & has a reportedly laid back tube sound .
Or perhaps a faster and more precise chip like Analogue Device's AD823 (supposedly less colored & intended for high fidelity audio) Highest marks for that purpose.(but not as suitable for "tube tone" ???

Advice or other qualified suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks

Havn't seen a schematic for those, are you shure the opamps are actually in the signal chain or doing something like servo function?

Not sure about servo function but suspect they might be in the signal chain as other posts around the net suggest upgrading the chips (in addition to upgrading any tubes as in the mic-pre) in order to achieve studio quality performance (or closer to it). My question would be more a question ot taste in the resulting tone of one chip verses another.
Here is a link to the sansamp schematic if that helps.
