I see deaf people
posting another mix when one isnt of the first page...sorry, it was taking an age to drop off and Id love some fresh ears on this if anyone has the time :o

Its an album intro followed by a track....there was a lot of bass and I think I might have overcooked everything at its expense..oops, I was very close to zeroing the faders on this

also Rob kindly did some vocals for the cradle to the grave track...his voice is like a better version of mine, plus his timing is much better, so it fits in...I think Ive matched them up pretty well but hes on hols so if anyone has another 5mins (I also removed a bit of boominess from the kick and added some colour here and there)

I think he sounds great on it

promise Ill leave everyone alone for a while after these :D

Fading fast ..... must sleep .... I'll give these a good listen to tomorrow KC.

Liking what Rob did with the vocals in Cradle to the grave! I would just turn him up just a bit more in the mix. That re-seasoning here and there throughout the track did the trick.

Nice layered production, good bass tones. I really like the first 1 1/2 mins before the beat really coagulates. Freestyle vox not really my thing- always reminds me of some white kid in a 7-11- but they seem well placed in the mix and right for the song stylistically. All in all a really dense tune with a lot going on.

Also really like what rob did with Cradle to the Grave (listened to v1 a few times but didn't comment).

I know I don't come in here too much, but I'm trying to change... :o

Thanks for listening to both mate

Robs vocals do improve it quite a bit...Id wince when mine came in lol

dense mix, yup my thoughts exactly...Im thinking id be better scratching this and starting again...its sound really thick to me which kinda matched the reference track I used (I dont normally use any) but makes it really squashed sounding at parts...mmmm

thanks again...yeah get in here more :)

I think they both sound fine. No nits. Good, deep bass presence. Good balance all around. I'm not crazy about the rap sounding vocals, but I'm an old white bastard. :D

aaahhhhh and Im not? haha

thanks G man

i just needed someone folks to listen, I dont mind nits but the shit was sounding like it was constipated...i dont mind if its dense as long as its not a log of mud (my adjectives are really crap today)

yeah the raps an optional like but Ive started to listen to MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice and I think it may catch on :D

Mixes sound right on, as good as I've heard in that genre. Lots a great wobbles, excellent work Keith.

Pete

thanks Pete

productions still not there, I lose interest in the detail...dunno if I can change that, glad the mix is OK, really thought id fucked it

where you been hiding bud? I hope the visit means a new track ;)

Cool. Rob sounds great on cradle to the grave. The vocal is mutilated with FX just as yours were before, but I can still tell it's him.

The new one is cool, but where did the vocals come from? I'm not a huge fan of them necessarily, but I think they fit what you're doing there. I do really like the instrumentation and I think both mixes sound really good.

I can actually listen to it now...i need a decent hi fi in here to have something other than earbuds as my commercial playback

Yeah i thought the rap part might be a little of putting but i wanted at least one track like it. Ive asked if anyone would rap for me bfore but folks lose interest or dont like my stuff, i understand as collabs get lost, i lose them all the time..so i used one cut up from a ragga cd and just worked on it...sounds ok i think

Yeah Robs timings way better than me..i liked the fx so i kind just had to slot his in and make some adjustments..thanks for listening to both mate :)

Yeah, the vocal sounds great and fits and everything. It is a purely subjective thing. Nice work on the "cut up"!

Did you hit up the hip hop forum for potential rappers? I'm guessing, yes, and you got nowhere, right?

Wait...did you check Oklahoma??

I haven't got a constructive thing to say...
However, that freakin' horn section sample in C-2thaG (rap lingo, yes?) is AWESOME!
Also, the new singer has a nice voice and delivers the lines quite well.

New track - very solid - no mud. The vocal (rap) sounds a little cheesey - not so much the style as the verbage itself. I'd have stopped after straight up but have cropped the Yo as that's a time signature of its own.
I really like the house of horrors beginning but I'm a sucker for that & the organ sounds REAL - I was actually hanging for more of it. What you were playing under the FX is really cool too!
Cradle 2 the Grave vox II:
Have you heard the album by Skull Snaps? That's break/sample heaven.
The vocals are not dissimilar to your own n'est pa? Good match - Rob's voice is smoother but I quite liked the edge on yours. It's a very good piece of music - well done matey!

thanks Pete

Writers block dude, IDK, since joining HR I've cut 7 tracks towards my CD, 4 got axed, 3 are done, two more are half done, just lacking motivation. Need to stick my finger in an AC outlet or something.

Rob flanged, panned and auto-tuned - who would have thought it would work out so well. Good stuff!
