i just try to separate things into different shelves to avoid a clutter.
please read my thread: "to whom u serve, artist?"
your opinions are welcomed.
thanks.

here is what i've once wrote to my pal guitarist:

ye. i feel it is better. and i hope u read everything i wrote u.

if i feel correctly, i have to say that there is more body of exact idea in your solo. not empty finger runs as in previous solo.
please try to help me understand what u was thinking and sang from your guitar playing. ok? that i could hear your idea in your mind and your singing through your guitar. that way your guitar will be free of any unplanned and meaningless notes which i dont want to hear. and believe me, no one else wants to hear empty fingers without exact ideas in your head first. everybody wants to hear your exact, naked thoughts, not the agony of your empty fingers. otherwise nobody will believe in your playing.

and your tone does NOT matter here. we r not mixing tracks here or polishing our tones. fuck it. u can use acoustic guitar if u want with rotted strings and worms inside.

the only thing that MATTERS here is your mind's improvisation, YOUR ideas. i did my solos after maybe 50 or more attempts of IMPROVISATION, making my self first create ideas, sing them and then, THE LAST thing, play them at the same milisecond. and still im not satisfied with them 100%. i want and i will do a better job here with more improvised attempts.

so,
improvise and kick ass using your ideas, spontaneous ideas. not fingers.
bluesman bb king once said: "i dont play this or that, this or that way, cause IT DOES NOT MAKE SENCE *TO ME*".

yes, if i create exact idea (more or less spontaneous) in my head and someone will say that it should be played very fast (or slower) and with 99 arpeggios while standing on my ears and making a feeling of sucking someone's dick, i will say:

"it is MY IDEA, and it does not go with arpeggios, and feeling of sucking dicks does not make sense in my ideas. i prefer sucking a real dog's real dick in my ideas, and i play my ideas standing on my hair. btw, there is one arpeggio in my idea, but only one. i dont like these other 98 arpeggios. my mind tells me not to use them. that's what i am, that is my idea i've just created, and, yes, it reminds a dog's dick sucking".

or:

"it is MY IDEA, and it is so fast that no one will be able to sing along or play along, BUT that is what i've created in MY head. and i dont give a shit if it is far from someone else's idea, too radical, too fast. i just want to play what i've created in my mind. and, fuck!, it is fast as hell. how will i play such a fast idea on my guitar?:). well i got to try and show my fast idea, that i've created in my head, through my guitar, so that everybody will be able to hear that idea that is in my mind".

or:

"i've created a quick, but good MY IDEA which is dropping my guitar on the floor and jumping on it and making it squeal like a smashed cat. and, hey! it is NOT an accidental move or squeal! i will do it in a rhythmic 4/4 manner with a lot of chugging and high notes. it is my idea and i can sing it loud before i'll do that idea in practice. take a listen how it will sound!".

and u start to sing those chugs and squeals. that is how creative things get done.

david gilmour is the best example of that. he plays in minimalistical way and he does not suck dicks if it is not a manner of his ideas. get it?
he uses HIS ideas and dont give a shit about arpeggios, dancing and dick sucking while playing. he plays HIS IDEAS, not finger movements.
and he is the best guitarist in the world.

so. make me hear what is in your mind and what u sing, so i can get your idea and sing along with your guitar while listening to your guitar.
DONT make me hear that u r playing without any idea somewhere. get it? just dont play without an idea first. it does not matter if your idea is polished or very spontaneous. IT IS STILL AN IDEA. do u follow me?
now go, improvise like hell. go, create YOUR ideas, man.

i've wasted 30 years playing mindless fingers shit, being lazy to create MY ideas first, instead of moving my pointless fingers. u have a chance to save your years here.

and one more important thing is: NEVER, i mean NEVER be afraid to create your ideas. sing your idea even if someone throws a brick right in to your face while u r singing. FINISH your idea to the end, so nobody will ever throw a brick again. cause they will know that you will show your ideas anyway. and musicians will respect u also. YOUR ideas are the tools that make you a person.
cause it is YOURS. and u r sure what u r doing. if someone will give u any recommendations on your playing or your idea, u can accept them or not using YOUR IDEA about these recommendations. musicians have to have a strong stamina of their ideas, cause they have to make listeners to believe in what they MEAN.
it is very important.

cheers. im waiting to sing along with your guitar. send me more of your attempts in separate emails.
try different places in my track.

thanks, bro

so use it or not. it is up to u guys

here is the first letter to my younger friend:

hi,
thanks. i will be honest with u. your solo doesnt sit well.
im not a vai or satriani, but i want to help u understand one thing that could make your playin better.
i would pay a million if someone could teach me things like that. especially if it could happen to me 20 years ago.

so,
everything what u've played u did not mean it. u just sit down, take a guitar and hope that this time fingers will run more or less better then yesterday and it will sound somehow better. it DOESN'T work that way. guessing and hoping for better will not help u. never.

now listen.
now u take your guitar, think/create exact idea (and it doesn't matter if your idea is so good as beethoven's or less good or much worse). the thing that matters here is that it is YOURS idea. now SING your exact idea loud. sing again. sing again. the main thing here is that NOW u use your brain first to generate idea, then u sing that idea. NOW U ARE ON A GOOD ROAD to your solo.
NOW LET"S FOLLOW THAT ROAD FURTHER:
now - the main thing is HOW TO PLAY THAT EXACT IDEA THAT IS IN YOU BRAIN!?! so here u don't give up!

now we have a GOOD sequence: think an idea > sing that idea.

now. u want to play it? ye?
here the hell starts:

it is impossible to repeat exactly what is in you mind when u r improvising. u dont have enough time to find those notes on a guitar.
what u can do?
here is what i do (and i think its very personal, but has a common base for everybody):
since i also can NOT repeat my idea from my head on the guitar at the same milisecond, i do this COMPROMISE:
i choose which scale to play, then i try to look at the fingerboard and visualize how those notes would sound prior i ring them.

and now u have a sequence:
idea in your head BASED on that visualized fretboard > sing that idea (doesn't matter if some of your notes u sing out loud are a bit different from notes on the fretboard, but u mean those notes on the fretboard. and that is the most important) > u play those visualized notes.
here we have it! your solo!! first attempt of your solo which is your IDEAS, YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and the main thing here stays the same. u use your head FIRST, and let your fingers follow your mind.
if u use GUESSING FINGERS FIRST, u r fucked up. u get it? previsualization is not a meat for fingers, IT IS A MEAT FOR YOUR IDEAS.
head always goes FIRST. how good and fast and smooth and pyrotechnically your fingers follow your good and fast and smooth and pyrotechnical mind is A SECONDARY THING. u get it?
it comes with practice to achieve that head>fingers connection. since u have pretty fast fingers, maybe it will be less painfull for u.

voice is better connected to a brain, but still many singers dont use their brain first. they use their throats first. and they are fucked up. pavarotti said: "singing is not in the throat, not in the voice, not in the lungs. singing is here", - and he pointed to his head.

so,
i did my best explaining u how i want to help u.
the music wants your IDEAS, not fast guessing fingers. music needs YOU, not your fingers. music is like math. u need to know your digits to solve the mathematical exercise. u cant guess and blindly enter digits here. u will not solve your math exercise.
so the same with music.
no exact ideas/notes - NO MUSIC. the worst u can do is to let your fingers be in the first place. that's what u do now. bad.

so, final sentence:
THINK based on your previsualization>SING IT>hit those notes. and u r done. then i will hear your thoughts, not your blind fingers. get it?

i will wait for your solo. and remember - head/ideas FIRST. CAUSE IT IS ABSOLUTELY DIFFERENT WORLD AND POINT OF VIEW! IDEAS FIRST!

see ya, my friend. see ya on the other side of the moon and with your new SOLO!
cheers.

so use it or not. it is up to u guys
