One card on the road, another in the studio with SE - How?

Does anybody have advice on how to work properly with 2 different souncards?

I have a Mackie Onyx 1220 with Firewire Option at home in my studio, but carry around a SB Audigy 2 ZS Notebook PC-Card interface when I'm travelling so I can still get decent latency numbers on my laptop.

All other programs I use (Sonar, Reason and varios soft synths) are pretty straightforward about this and simply prompt me to select a new ASIO driver once they see either the Onyx or SB card missing.

Cubase SE, on the other hand, throws a regular hissy fit and refuses to start up completely (and eventually crashes) if the card from the previous session is not connected.

Is there some kind of way to start Cubase SE in a type of "Safe Mode" so I can select the other card?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
