"One Breath Away"....

About half the time when I think I hear a pop, I rewind and find out it wasn't there. Either I was hearing things, or there was a glitch in the audio streaming, etc. So I don't know if it was really there or not.

Actually, I've found the opposite. Your ears are usually pretty impressively good for that kind of thing.

I'll check later on to see if the pop you were talking about in this tune is really there.

I believe you. But on earbuds, the drums are clicky. Which is no surprise, cuz it's a typical earbuds thing, losing everything south of 150-200 Hz. But so many people listen on earbuds these days that for people at the level RAMI's at, it might make sense to find a way to get the mix sounding good through your monitors AND my earbuds. On my last album, I mixed through my monitors, but listened and checked both in my car and on earbuds.

Just jam em in your ears harder. The thing with most earbuds is that unless you make them sit the same in your ear every time, they'll always sound different. That's how it is with mine anyway. I've got like 7 sets of earbuds from cheap to pretty dang good. They all sound different depending on how they sit in the ear. They all sound different anyway. I can dig making sure a mix sounds good everywhere, I do that all the time, but to me earbuds are the last of my concerns.

A few days ago, I thought about asking if anyone has heard from you. Glad to see you back and apparently getting healthy again.

It all sounds good man. there's a little buzzing in the intro, but you probably know that already.

So, next time life takes a detour and you aren't going to be around, let us know. Okay? I've got to take daily attendance.

I think this is my favourite out of everything I've heard from you.
I duno, the laid back feel just took me.

Vocals and harmonies are, as always, ridiculously tight. I love them.
Not sure if it's been mentioned but I picked up some guitar buzz towards the start as a chord faded out.

I generally don't comment on your material because you've got it down sooo well.
The advice and comments are usually from people who know your sound so well that they can pick up on minor variations and changes from song to song.

Still, I'm listening as we speak and just felt compelled to say great work and stay healthy man.

Yeah I heard that pickup buzz and I actually liked it. In this era of everything being surgically edited and every track having every bit of unused space cut out for total silence, a little pickup noise is a welcome bit of realism to me.

I agree with Greg. (I can't believeI said that:). Leave some noise in. We are poeple, after all. Well, theortically. Leave the humanity alone. Do you want to do rap?

Thanx Chili. My bad. Next time I'll be sure to let everyone know about my life threatening illness. I gues I was just being selfish. :(

(I didn't really have a life-threatening illness, but for the purpose of that joke , I did) :D

Thanx Steen, that's really nice to hear.

I definitely hear the buzz, I switched pickups just for that last riff. I wish I could be cool and say I kept it in to sound "real", the only reason I left it in is because the sustaining note does a slight bend up that sounds really cool to me and I didn't think I'd be able to do it exactly the same again. So, I decided buzz and bend is better than no buzz and no bend. As a bonus, I think it's cool to sometimes hear something like that in a tune, as long as it doesn't come off to "deliberate lo-fi".

LIkewise... heard it, thought it was a deliberate leave by RAMI... and that it fitted in well. I like a bit of amp hum and pickup buzz and other stuff like that...

There's a Social Distortion album where you can hear Mike Ness turn his guitar up before every song. He uses a lot of gain and P-90s, so right at the beginning of every song there's this bwaaaarrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR sound then feedback and the songs kick off. I love it.

Ha! I got nothing against the buzz.
Just making sure you knew about it. ;)

One of my recordings has a message ringtone in the outro.
I mean, it wouldn't be all that bad but my msg tone was a Radio 1 host doing an impression of Nelson Mandela saying "Cloudy".

It was from a skit called "One word weather with Nelson Mandela."

I quite like a bit of buzz, being that I have mainly single coils it seems normal to me. It also provides a bit of reality.
I listened a few times RAMI & can't pick something to nag about except that the 1st note is a surprise - but that's a good thing I think.
I still like the last note in the solo too!

Love this

This is a great song, I just love the overall vibe. The mix is well crafted as everything seems to occupy it's own space to me. I really like where the drums are and the vocal blends while retaining an amzing presence, your silvery voice doesn't hurt either. The only things I mught try if it was me is maybe spreding the guitars wider and maybe changing up the rhythm guitars and boosting drums in the chorus for song dynamics. I kept hearing a sharp drum roll in the pause before the second line in the chorus, and really wanted the last 3 words of the chorus to be strung out for emphasis like One. Breath. Awaaaaaay-- > , but that's an arrangement thing and I like it fine as is, just things you hear in other peope's songs sometimes.

Great job and I'm very envious of your chops and polish.

Thanx a lot Ray. I'm glad everyone seems to not mind the buzz. Saves me the trouble of trying to do something about it.

the 1st note is a surprise
They often are....but a song's got to start somewhere. :D

Hey, I really appreciate your comments and suggestions. You might be right about widening the guitars a bit. I'm used to doing the standard "double track the rythm guitar and pan them, throw another guitar somewhere else in the stereo field". But in this song, I didn't double the rythm guitar, so I have one guitar on the left and one on the right, changing the amount of panning in different parts. But I can try spreading them more. Your other suggestions are good too, or at least worth a try, but it's all hindsight now. :D

Thanx again. :)

Nice mix and song, the singing is on point and carries the song well. I like all the individual sounds, the drums sound nice- i'm not a big fan of the snare sound but that's just me- I like the way the high hats and crash sound especially. Real or programmed?? I can't tell anymore. Harmonies stack nicely-guitar has a bit of a honk to me but very well played and a precise sound-cuts through nice when you're doing arpeggios. Amazing what you can do at home isn't it? Enjoyed it.

Thanx a lot Strat. That's me playing real drums. Funny, I just had another conversation in someone else's thread about whether their drums were real or not. I guess programmed drums are getting so good that it's hard to tell these days.

Hello Rami,
Nice to see that you and most others are around. I was kind of busy last couple of years.
What happened to your arm?
I had (still have) carpal tunnel syndrome and it affects my playing.

"One breath" sounds nice but I would never guessed it was you.
I remember you as a hard rocker with voice of Klaus Meine.
Have a nice day!
