Hey guys,

Haven't been around at all lately. Had a health issue and was in the hospital for a while.

Trying to get back on my feet. I threw this together . I honestly didn't have the patience to really dissect this while mixing, so this is probably the quickest and sloppiest thrown together mix I've ever posted. Hopefully you guys can help me get it up to par, I just didn't have the patience or frame of mind to really concentrate on mixing it.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanx

ONE BREATH AWAY

You're drumming quite well these days with just the one arm there Rami... that was it wasn't it?

You're in the greg / heatmiser (and a few others) basket for mine.. I don't listen to give you feedback, I generally just listen because I know I'll like it. So, good tune.

If I had a nit it would be the guitar solo... it works, but the ending was a bit "down" for me... still liked it though.

Welcome back dude.

I see you've cleverly got it organised so that Yeah comes on automatically afterwards... good move. Always liked that one! Nice to hear it again too... :D

Nice to see you back. Good lyrics and another sweet tune. I really love the change to the chorus, it's well nice. Not sure about the mix being thrown together though, sounds pretty good to me. :)

RAMI,
Hope you're on the improve.
Sounds like you're up to speed.
How did they keep you in a hospital bed? You must've been crook!
I quite like the way the solo ends - it follows the lyrical theme, though I understand Yoda's boy's thoughts on it.
I haven't any nits to pick on 1st lsiten - I'll come back & listen again for an attempt at a crit.

Get well soon!
I hope they pet you well ;)

I think this sounds very, very good.
I hear some kind of buzz at 0.25-0.27.
I wonder what is it called? Ground loop?

Thanx everyone.

Armistice might be right abut the solo, but I put so little importance on solos that I wouldn't go back and change it. I figure if it's not out of key, it's fine. :D

I really appreciate all the comments from everyone else, too. I'm on the mend and going a little crazy because I feel 100%, but have to wait to get a doctor's permission to go back to work. One more week.

TMS, you're right about the buzz. It's simply because I switched to my neck pick-up for the end part of the intro, and that single coil buzzes like hell. I noticed it too late. I'll see if I can fade it out without affecting the note being played.

Thanx a lot guys and girl. :)

I can't comment on the mix as I'm only listening on my phone with ear buds but I really like the song, performance and execution. Moody melancholy lyrics are my kinda thing so I easily slipped into the songs feeling. Top job!

Sorry to read you've been ill RAMI. I trust you'll be back at it and 100% in no time at all. :thumbs up:

good tune :) only listening on my laptop but having listened to your other stuff before I'm confident it'll be a good mix even if you're doubting yourself.

On earbuds through an iPad, the drums should be bigger, less clicky. And who writes letters nowadays? Throwback. Lol. The first comment says sth about this mix, the second comment is about the next tune.

Glad you're out of the hospital. It's better making music than dealing with medicos. I avoid them whenever possible. I even opt out sometimes. But the mix needs bigger drums thru earbuds. :-)

on second listen through cans the only thing I would change is the snare, two high and snappy for me but that's just personal preference.

Thanx a lot MC. Yeah, I hate "happy" lyrics, too. :) Appreciate the well wishes on my health. I'm pretty much 100% now. :)

You lost me. Which first comment? Which second comment? What next tune? :D

Yeah, hospitals really suck. I think I need to change my kik drum skin, it's been a while. I don't mind the rest of the drums though.

Thanx Ollie. You may be right, but I think it comes down to personal preference like you said.

The comment about the drums sounding clicky through earbuds is something you can deal with on this mix. The comment about the next tune was about avoiding old-fashioned images like 'writing a letter' - I was joshing you. I didn't do it very well. :D

Ah, ok I got ya. It's me, I'm slow in the morning. I'm only on my first coffee. :)

There aint no keeping you down dude, I think this is really well done. The vocals are spectacular. I rarely pay attention to lyrical content, but I like the lyrics very much. The drums sound very good to me. I don't think they sound small or clicky at all. The kick and snare have body and the toms have good punch. The little snare accents are just right. Good spread as usual in the overheads. Guitar tones and bass are just right. It's all good dude. Glad you're on the mend, and personally I'm very happy to have you back in here.

My only critique is that your player cuts off the very very end of the song.

Great man, thanx. That's a relief. I really didn't put the amount of time to mix this as I usually do....maybe that's the trick. :D

The lyrics are more or less about being in the hospital...sort of. I never really write totally "about" something, but they're usually "sort of about" something or another.

My web host changed the design of the site and now I can't get my song to preview until the end. It's 3:56 long, and the longest it lets me preview is 3:50, so we miss the rest of the very last ringing chord. EDIT: I think I just fixed that issue. We now get the last 6 seconds. :D

Thanx a lot Greg....and every one else.

(It had to be "write a letter"....."type an-e-mail" didn't quite cut it. :D )

I believe you. But on earbuds, the drums are clicky. Which is no surprise, cuz it's a typical earbuds thing, losing everything south of 150-200 Hz. But so many people listen on earbuds these days that for people at the level RAMI's at, it might make sense to find a way to get the mix sounding good through your monitors AND my earbuds. On my last album, I mixed through my monitors, but listened and checked both in my car and on earbuds.

Sad to say, but that is the way it is.

Cool man, I get what you're saying. I'm sure I'll get around to re-mixing this one day, or at least listening very carefully to it. I'll see if adding some meat to the drums for earbuds doesn't affect what comes out of speakers too much. Might have to find a happy medium. Thanx man, no suggestion is a bad suggestion.

Yeah it sounded real good. Vocals and guitars sound very cool. Real good harmonies. I liked the drum sound too. No complaints on any of that.

I guess the closest I can come to a nitpick is the bass is a bit loud and it's got a low end boomy frequency. If you take care of that, then you might need to lower the level of the kick.

Thought I might have heard a pop just before 3:00. But the player doesn't let you go back to replay. So it could have been my ears playing tricks on me. Or a PC glitch. Might want to check though.

Thanx Trip. Why am I not surprised you think you heard a pop somewhere? :D

I'm glad you pointed that out about the player. I had no idea. My web host really screwed shit up. They changed stuff and now I can't just get a simple link to my tune, I have to send you to the page you all went to. Hopefully they'll fix that, they're still n the middle of "improving" shit. Thanx a lot man.
