I know you guys get alot of newbie questions and normally the same ones over and over but please put up with me and being new to recording.
Well like alot of you I got some new recording equipment for christmas. I got the Zoom 1044 digital recorder. Im very happy with it so far. Right now i directly connect my ESP guitar into it and recorder and use its bass simulation ( which isnt too great, im probably going to get a real bass) It has high EQ and low EC with frequince stuff, panning, and a bunch of other neat stuff.
I plan on doing two things with my new recorder:
1) Im going to be recording some bands and making demos for them. My recorder only has 10 tracks and im guess that isnt enough for a whole band or it is? Now if i miked the whole set could i run all the mics to a mixer then to my recorder? Or would that make the sound all muddy?
2) Im going to be making some of my own music. Since Im not in a band and i dont know any drummer that live near by is there any programs that i can use on my computer so i can get some drums down. I know the Zoom has a built drum machine but its not too easy to use ( or i havent mastered it yet)
Also can anyone please tell me which order to record everything in and anything else i would need to make my music and the music I record sound good. i.e. which mics, where to place the mics etc...
OK thanks everyone. Happy holidays.
