I really like the drum sound ( snare) on this, hooked me right off the bat. I'm always into your guitar tone/playing, I like that switch in groove around 2:20 , then the acoustics coming in near the end before vocals return, really cool dynamics. Are you doing the bass guitar as well? Some cool parts in there as well , and purely personal taste , I would maybe like to hear the bass guitar a little more up in the mix. Great song!

written for a friend who was going through it.
on the way back.

Love the song; sad topic. I hope everything turned out ok.

No real criticisms. I do have a personal preference; I also real liked the heavy tempo change part but I wish the rhythm guitars were double tracked then panned hard R and L in that spot, with a tighter more clear/articulate high gain tone. Would add a lot of energy to that part. But by the looks of things you’re done with the mix and it’s more a show & tell.

Sounds great! Thanks for sharing!

Yep - dig how the song sets up nicely and then shifts to the heavy section at about 2:10. That is way cool. Killer gtr tones (as usual).

thanks strat, for listening and commenting

the drums on this, were written using sony acid.
they are samples; loops, actually, that i just built up from scratch.

i do all the music, vocals and production.
and yea, getting the bass guitar right so it translates best on all playback systems, is the hardest part of mixing.

alright fish, thanks for listening!

you know, the original mix of this song, does have double tracked guitars left and right.
when i was sequencing the album tracks, this one sits between two other songs that had the hard panning, and i changed this one to the way it was to provide another sonic element when listening to the album in sequence.
it sounded good that way...... but i ended up preferring a stripped down version.

thank you porterhouse! guitar tones on this were half mesa boogie, and half strymon iridium, since i tracked new stuff near the end of the mixing sessions.
i added a tele thru a marshall, for one of the rhythm tracks.

addiction..you gotta be tough at your weakest.

Mathew Perry died because he thought addiction was a DISEASE. It is just choice that you DO have. A hard choice. No sympathy for it.
Cancer is a disease. No choice. Sympathy is given.

Saying addiction is a disease releases the addict from fault and takes them into a sympathetic self-serving economy. Stop it. Save their lives.

Contact your state sponsored program. Methadone is free. No physical withdrawals. No more addiction. No more Fenty deaths.

THANKS for your song review, lazer.

Its a jam.

People get on your way, to a better day!

Just say no!

Interesting vocal effects, they really work well. I like the tempo change on this one. Guitar tones hit the spot too. Very nice job all round

hi bull, thank you for listening

vocal effects were a little bit spacey at first, and i dialed them back. i can't remember that chain now, but i probably should go back and make a preset using those settings.

it's a funny thing, mixing vocal effects, they always sound different to me every time i go to mix it, and i basically tweak it every time. LOL

used these for the guitar tones:
