I am looking at these two devices primarily now to help me into my first attempt at recording. There is a significant price difference and I was wondering what people thought about either interface. thanks

Depends on your usage.
Do you need the extra I/O of the OnmiStudio?
You also might be better off spending the extra $130 now, rather than buying somehting crappy, then spending even more on something even better down the road.
