how the heck can i hook them up. ( btw i dont hav a mixer but i am shopping for a sub $100 mixer today) also will they also control levels AFTER they are recorded like later on in the editing / mixing process i prefer hands on over software. please help

The Omnistudio only has 4 real hardware outputs right?

If so, then the most you can do with a mixer is control the volume/panning of 4 seperate tracks, and what you do will not be remembered by the recording software, so you'll lose the instant recall of your mix settings.

Maybe what you want is a control surface that will allow you to control the tracks "inside" the recording software.

do you know of any like under $500. even if it is midi or usb. i would only need like 4 tracks max at a time and i have been able to do this with my omnistudio usb very well despite popular belief

It will depend on if your software supports the use of external control surfaces, you could look at one of these for a lowbuck solution..

I left out the TASCAM units because you already have a soundcard, and they are both soundcards and control surfaces in a single unit.
