Hey Guys I was wondering a few things and thought you may be able to help!

1) Is the Omni Studio a good buy?
2) I have a AKG c2000 is this alright for recording acoustic steel string guitar?
3) What software works well with the Omni Studio/delta 66
 
1. I have the Omni studio and have found it to be worth the money for what I want to do. What do you want?
2. The AKG c2000 will record a steel string acoustic guitar :) .
3. My Omni studio came with a Logic Delta that will record 16 audio tracks and nothing longer than 5 minutes--it suits my needs very well. Does it suit yours?

I'm not trying to be a smartass but you can get some great responses on this board if you provide detail as to what you are looking for--I know I have.
 
I've tried just about all the programs people are using for multitrack with the omni studio. i have one myself and found it works well with everything. I personally feel like the ASIO drivers are a bit better the WDM. I could never quite get it to work the way i wanted with sonar. Nuendo will rock your world if you're just doing audio and not midi, Cakewalk is the cheaper option. Try out demo versions and you'll figure it out.

A better option for acoustic would be a mxl603 for $79 or an ecm8000 for $40. I use them both together to stereo mic the acoustic. I think they'll both give you a better sound than the AKG. and if you don't think so, it's not like you waster alot of money cause they have so many others uses with drums.

Thanks So much for the advice and responses everybody! I think I'll buy the omni cause I've only heard good things about it! Also would you suggest running the mic'ed acoustic through a tube amp or any other "effect"? This may be a stupid question but can I run rca's out of the omni studio to my stereo system and if yes is a stereo system (nice one) a valid sustitute for monitors? Are headphones better? Thanks again I hope I can help people in the future but right now I'll just concentrate on finding skill! haha chiao!
 
yes you can run it out into a home stereo system. That's what i'm doing now. Has been working just fine. I think stereo systems will do the job assuming you're listening with the right speakers. i have some bookshelf reference monitors that are made for a home stereo but have a flat sound characteristic as studio monitors do. I imagine if you hooked up some big old surround sound speakers, they would glamourize your recordings (boost freq. that wouldn't give you a true response). I don't think headphones would be a valid substitute for a mixing monitor. There are several low cost studio monitors that would get you closer to the read deal. Search around for similar threads.
