omni studio newbie question

Newbie Question
Well i went out and bought the Omni studio ,and
i am a total newbie ,,,so give me your divine wisdom.

I have the card installed ,and 2000 drivers loaded
appears to be installed correctly. The m audio control
panel is there .

I have a soundblaster live Plat. I plug a guitar into omni
on input 1
i have the gain at half and the monitor at half ,,,i cant hear
anything coming out of my speakers on the soundblaster
it shows signal in h/w 1 and i see signal in master volume
on monitor mixer ,,,,,,but no sound .....i have no recording
software open at this time .......any ideas , im sure im doing something stupid ......but ill endure the ebarasement gladly
to be able to record on my pc .....wooooo hooooo

See my response in the Cakewalk forum, though this forum is the more sensible one to post this in (or maybe the Newbies forum).

Makon, cross-posting (the same question in multiple forums at this site) is a no-no.

And while I'm in lecturing mode, please don't say stuff like, "so give me your divine wisdom." I almost didn't respond because I have no divine wisdom, I'm just a normal human guy that dabbles in this stuff. I think you might be putting off potential responders those kind of comments, though I have no doubt you just mean to be light and amusing with it. Some might feel that by answering they are claiming divinity or guruhood, or that they will be perceived as claiming that.

Now I'll have to disregard everything you've ever told me, AlChuck. :(

And yes Makkon, please DO NOT CROSS POST! When I see the same question in multiple forums I refuse to respond to it (unless you consider this a response). You should understand that I get quite po'd when I waste my time typing an answer to your question, only to find out someone already gave you an answer in another forum.

I originally posted in the cakewalk by accident , realized my screwup and went to this category , but i did double post in
newbie land as well. Sorry about the ( Divine Wisdom ),
I communicate on alot of sites for a lot of differant things ,
and adapt to those unique social structures ...... That phrasing would not normally be an issue anywhere else , but i respect
your wishes and want to follow the natural order of things here.
