I just recently purchased an Omni Studio / delta 66 from m-audio. I am very new to PC audio and wanted to start some what basic. I am having no problem getting sound from my cpu .. but if I plug a mic in the xlr input 1 on my omni I/o I see the signal but am not getting any sound output from the cpu at all. I have the phantom power on etc, but still nothing ....Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In your recording s/w you need to select M-Audio Delta 66 1/2 (or3/4) as your outputs.

Then in the Delta control panel, select 'Moniter Mixer' on the Patchbay/Router tab, and on the Monitor Mixer tab you need to adjust the Wav out levels of the outputs you selected in the s/w. Make sure the Wav outs aren't muted

Thanks for the help guys, another question though.. should i be able to hear myself talk or sing through the mic say if im not using a recording software at the moment? Like just straight through the cpu?

It must be a setting im missing in cubase sx 2.0, any suggestion where to change a setting maybe to get sound?

So you're saying if you playback something in cubase you can't hear it, but you can play an mp3 OK?

Yes If you have Monitor mixer selected.

If this is the pci version, there is a an input on the rear "Stereo Aux in 1" Make sure the lil button next to it is not pressed in when you trying to use the xlr ins 1 and/or 2. This button switches the between inputs 1/2 & stereo aux 1

Well holy heck !!! Hi_D_Ho_Man, you just made my night..... that was what was wrong !! Thanks a million. Although im still not getting any playback atm with cubase sx 2.0, however I can sleep knowing everything works as of right now.. I just need to fiddle with some settings in cubase I guess. Do I need to switch back from monitor mixer again to hear sound recorded from cubase? sort of lost again...

however thanks a ton guys

No u can leave it in mon. mixer mode. It sounds like u need to setup your outputs in 'VST Connections'. The guys on the Cubase forum here will prolly be best to ask, I'm not terribly familiar with SX 2
