Omni preamp

A quality pre amp makes a big difference, thats why you see some pre amps costing thousands of dollars.
A cheap pre amp can make a high dollar mic sound ..... Ummm ..... "Cheap".
It all really depends on the sound you are after. Most solid state pre's have a dry sterile sound whereas a nice tube pre will be more natural and warm sounding.

On the back of the omni is 2 other inputs that do not have a preamp built into them. If you'd like to use another preamp with the omni just use inputs 3 and 4.

Yeah .... what vestast said ... I guess I forgot that part (your actual question) ... my mind aint all together here today. Damned sinus cold.
The Omni has the 2 line level inputs as vestast stated.
 
The Omni preamps I believe are basically the DMP2...which is basically the DMP3 with less headroom...
