I went to guitar satan last weekend to try out some different fx pedals for a friend's birthday gift. Anyhow, I picked up a 4-string OLP Music Man copy bass to try out the different pedals. I was pretty impressed. It played really well and sounded halfway decent too (although I was playing through a guitar amp). I picked up another one they had on the floor too, just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. They seem like really well made instruments and they only cost $229. They blow away the Dillion and Jay Turser Music Man copies I've played before. I think with a new pickup - maybe that SD basslines one - this might be the cheap bass I've been looking for. They have a 5 string version too, if anyones interested.

Anyone else play one yet? Any thoughts?

Yeah, I sent an email to Ernie Ball about them and one of their customer service guys responded:

'We as Ernie Ball, Inc. do not manufacture, sell or distribute the OLP line of instruments. The design and sale of the instruments are approved and licensed by us, but we do not sell , distribute or warranty them whatsoever.

All inquiries should be made your local retailer or to Davitt & Hanser, the sole U.S. distributor for those instruments. Their web address is: http://www.davitt-hanser.com/. Their phone number is (513) 451-5000. '

So it looks like they are built to Music Man specs - maybe thats why they are halfway decent. I'm not sure about the quality of the materials used though and Davitt & Hanser don't have any info on their site yet.
