Older Multitrack Mastering Question

Ok,

I am using a Roland VS 890 multitrack recorder for mixing and mastering and it is very capable of both but, because it is an older model mastering is a little issue because of connectivity. The manual says to use the optional CD recorder to master to but they are an extra expense that I just cant afford right now. Thats why I have this one, its older i.e. cheaper. I didn't know about the CD recorder until after I bought it. So what can I master to? I have a BOSS BR mini. Can I just connect the main outputs of the Roland 890 to the BOSS mini and record to that?
 
I would use the SPDIF output to avoid going through the digital-analog-digital conversions. If your Boss is a Micro BR then it doesn't have digital inputs as far as I can tell. I would connect it to a computer and do the mastering there, but there are no affordable devices that I can find with SPDIF input. Maybe you can find an older piece of hardware used that will do the job, like an M-Audio Audiophile 2496.
 
Cool! One thing though, I am needing to be able to record mix and master 1 minute songs very quickly. Is it Ok to constantly remove the hard drive?
