Older Mackie desk talking to new computer

Hello'

Is there a way to get my Mackie 16ch desk (analog) to sync up to my imac??

what equipment do i need??
 
The best you could hope for is just the mains (two tracks) out to your computer ..... Well Wait a minute possibly a direct out per channel just might work for a total of 16 track recording so I guess you would need a couple of 8 channel A/D interfaces and all of the appropriate cabling not to mention you'll have to download reaper as your DAW, that just might get you started.
 
Um, I have just bought Logic Pro 9. Does that mean I am covered in the DAW area??
Also probably only need 8 channels at most.
Was just told that one will get a better sound running through older desks??
