OLD soundcraft pre's

hey guys,
I know i've posted a lot about this thing, but I want to get one more thing...
I have this old soundcraft board, it's a 16 channel series 200 from probably the 70's?
Does anyone know if the pre's are any good? if they are i want to get the parts i need to get the board running, or should i not bother and get some dedicated pres like an RNP, etc?

no one seems to know anything about these boards, but does anyone know if the old soundcraft pres are good in general..? Any information is much appreciated

Not sure about the pres, but I would guess the EQ would probably be more than decent.

i dont think i'd can use the EQ... because i'll be using the inserts as direct outs and then going into my daw. Unless the EQ will still work if i'm using the inserts as d/o's? thanks

Those may be pre-ghost and thus not as quality sounding as today' boards. In the 70s eeek! Does it have phantom power?
 
If you have a tube mic then the pres may be excellent for tracks. On non-tube mics they may come off too thin sounding or so general sounding that they pick up everything in the room that you don't want. You didn't mention any mics so this is really a stab in the dark. However, as they are made by soundcraft I'll bet they are very clean i.e. low noise.

Regarding if they are any good, if they don't hiss and you like the sound then keep them. There are some files around here for RNP vocals and guitars now.

Check these out and compare them with your mics. Your ears will tell you the rest.
