HI GUYS.

Need some advice.

Just bought a used Midiverb 2.

I know it is a piece of shit but, it's what I got.

Let's talk the gated reverbs.

Do these act like a noise gate ?

Could you use it to gate a snare ?

All comments welcome.

Gates reverbs are reverbs run trhough a noise gate. This does not mean that they "act like" a noise gate, and no, you can't use them to gate a snare. If you use them on a snare, the effect you will get is a gated, reverb, not a gated snare.

Now, this doesn't mean it won't sound good. :)

To tell you the truth, the Midiverb II is one of my favs for drums. And regebro is correct, it won't funtion as a noise gate, only gate it's own reverb tail.

Any favorite patches come to mind?

Heh heh...I admit, I have the midiverb 2 on my drum buss. Ive been using it for so long Im not sure I could function without it. SO what are your guys' favorite numbers?

On reverbs, I like #10 or 15 for more of a room sound, 20 or 25 for totally rude long decay time verb. I dig 32 on gated verbs (think Phill Collins).
