Okay... what files ended with ".cak" and why can't they be opened in Sonar?
 
...ooops, I'm sorry moskus, but it doesn't appear as Cakewalk file. Not even the older one :)

The only file I know remotely similar to that would be a *CAL file: CakeWalk Application Language.

You haven't renamed the file accidentally by any chance?

Here's a trick I've used in the past for such occasions: Rename the file to *.TXT and open it with a text editor. If you can read the header, it may give you an idea of what the file-type is, then you can re-name the file-extension appropriately.

Okay... crap! The official site for the Syntecno TeeBee (for making annoying synth sounds) claimed it was a studioware panel of some sort "for cakewalks sequensers"... :(
 
Have you tried re-naming and using it as a studioware panel?
