Michael will make that rode sound a lot better! I have several microphone that have been modified by him and they all sound better than stock.

My biggest problem is I can't get the cowbell to cut thru the mix...lol

Would you say it really does come close to a U87?

Well ..... it is all a matter of opinion. But yeah close, but no U87.
At the price of the microphone then the price of the mod it is well worth it for what your going to get back.
But hey purchase a U87 then go DANG should have saved a butt load of money and modified the rode.

Did you check out the clips at his site?

I did, very impressive. I wish I had seen his site earlier...would have saved myself some coin just buying the Rode straight from them.

Search the forum closely, alot has been said about them allready.

I have a Joly-modded MKL-2500 and ML-52. Absolutely worth it, the sound gets a lot more open. The Rodes are a bit dark in my opinion, so the mod may be a great thing for it.

True, and I would at a higher price range, but I sacrifice cost for convenience under $300
