I've read something about a new ribbon mic from Oktava.

The Royers are a bit too expensive too me, and I've been looking at the Beyers but maybe this is another good alternative ?

Is it out yet and does anyone know how it sounds ?

[ www.oktava.com ] this is for the sound room..They sell the ML52 now{new ribbon}.At first I asked Taylor about it and he said it wasn't good for some reason or other..Must have fixed what ever the prob was because now they are selling them..Also ask him about the ML19 ribbon{ it sounds very nice} ,not much more cash I belive.Good luck

Has anybody used the Oktava ribbon mics yet? I'm a little curious about them.

lots of people on the tapeop board use them. check the archives there... although you might have some problems cause there are 2 boards, an old one and a new one.

from what i hear the oktava is a cool sounding mic, but not really in the class of the beyers or royers....

but great for guitars and certain voices. and for a dark, very dark overhead. i say go for an m260. beat it up till the ribbon breaks and send it mr. sank.

I bought an ML-52 at GC Green Tag Sale. I paid $199.00. I used it alittle. Seems good on vocals. I heard it is great on elec guitars. I have not tried it, but now I will. I will tell you my results.
