Can anyone recomend a good aftermarket shock mount for the Oktava MKL2500 tube mic? A site or link would be appreciated and handsomely rewarded with a lovely green chicklet.

I've got a pair of them. They are gorgeous and amazing microphones, but they're a lot like a vintage tube amp, to get them right, they require some work. In their unmodified form, they typically have a slight hum in the power supply (which must be fixed). The stock mic though, you could definitely live with in its stock form. Very opposite of the Chinese tube stuff, not bright, very mid rangey, although its top end is nice as well. I've found it very nice on vocals (matched with a tube (read: tube, not a toob) pre), and an absolutely incredible mono overhead drum mic. I also have a modified version of it done by Oktava mod, completely worth the money, it turned it into a far more transparant mic with expanded high end presence and a bit more "bloom" for an unamplified source. I haven't found anything nicer on the female voice, but strangely the modded version doesn't sound as good to me as a drum overhead. Both forms are highly useable mics, neither are "abrasive" as I've found in lines such as Studio Projects C1 and some of the MXL lower end. I think it's one of the ultimate sleepers, but again, it requires a touch of leg work but if you own Bogen, DuKane and Precision Electronics pieces like I do, you already know about leg work
Hope this helps, ask any questions you like about them, I could probably answer them.
