One of my MC-012's started making a horrible static/hum/bunch of noise when I plugged it in. If I moved the mic cord where it plugs into the mic, I could get it to go away. But it has to be in exactly the right place for it to work right. It's definitely the mic and not the cord (I checked that out). Any ideas what it could be? Am I screwed? How much is it gonna cost me to get it fixed?

Are you handy with a soldering iron. Chances are you've got a cold/cracked solder joint giving you the problem, and can fix it by simply re-flowing a few solder joints. May or may not work, but cost's nothing to try.

Yeah I had one like that. Right after I bought a couple of the them one of them had alot of noise & had to crank the gain up to the moon to get anything. Took it back immediately to GC and got it swapped out with a good one. Great mics though. Can you take yours back?

I bought this one used and it worked fine for several months. Then this happened, so no I can't take it back. I do know someone who can solder (builds his own tube guitar amps) so I'll have him take a look at it.
