Just another guy, really.
Went to my fav. shop, the rectifier tube he ordered me got sold (no biggie, took me a long time to get there, no deposit paid, he ordered me another one, etc.) I see that both the Deluxe Reverb and the Pro Reverb (both '78's) use the same rectifier tube. He sold me a SS rectifier, said if I decided I didn't want it, he would credit me the $10 I paid for it twards the tube. I accept that a SS rectifer in the Deluxe is not good- but what about in the Pro? Mine has been extensively rebuilt, including all new transformers (before I got it.) Would the SS rect. work well there? I would imagine the answer might depend on the transformers now resident in the amp- how can I determine if they are up to the task?

Adding a SS rectifier is certainly possible, but it just might take a little modification. If however you are interested in a vintage rectifier tube, send me a PM with what you need and I will see what rectifiers I have left in stock. If I don't have it, I can at least point you in a good direction:)

Solid state rectifiers will end up putting out a slightly higher voltage and current than a tube rectifier, which can be a problem in some amps (shorter tube life and damaged transformers), so they are generally not recommended. Also, they don't have as much sag, so they will change the sound a bit - you may like it, you may not, but it will be different.
