I'm a total Newbie. I beg your indulgence in advance for this very simple setup question:

The gear:

B&W G3 tower, Audiomedia III card, Mackie 1402VLZ, Digital Performer 2.6

The question: Um, how do I make this work? At the moment, I'm going from the audio OUT of the AMIII card into the Tape IN on the Mackie, and from the Mackie "Channel Insert" (1/4) to the audio IN on the AMIII card and from the Mackie Main OUT to the AUX (RCA) input of a bookshelf stereo, just to get some noise. Way back when, I put down 1 or 2 tracks in DP2.6 using the Mac soundcard before I had the mixer and before the AMIII was installed and I can play those and hear them in the Mackie Phones OUT, but can't seem to get the audio signals from the mic to the Mackie to the AMIII card and into DP or any existing track to anything other than the phones out on the Mackie.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

I've got none of the gear you're using, but until real help arrives, I'll have a go. It sounds like the signal isn't getting further than the mixer. When I go from my mixer to my soundcard, the plug goes in only to the first click of the insert (second click for the soundcard in, of course). If you haven't tried that, it might help.

Well........ here I go....point form =)
me have mackie, me help

Use the "Control Room" outputs on your mixer to go to the speakers

if your having probs with the line out, try the ALT 3-4 outs
but make sure U have the Mute/Alt 3-4 button pressed down or the signal won't get routed properly

if your gonna use channel inserts, only go 1 click in......

as for your output from the PC, just go right into one of the line channels on the mixer

also try hookin up your CD player(or something else reliably loud) to your PC's inputs, just to make sure U are getting a signal, and the sound card isn't F***ed. and if thats ok, use those channel inserts or Alt 3-4 outs

and don't forget that output for the control room outs is controled by the "CTL ROOM/SUBMIX" knob, its sensitive, so start off, then creep your way up

Hope this helped,

Sabith

Thanks, Dobro & Sabith

Mille Grazie, dudes. I'm off and running and loving every second of it. Maybe you remember this from way back when (or maybe it still gets ya) but I have trouble leaving the house anymore. My fiancee's getting worried; she thinks I'll never shave again. Thanks for the tips.
