In fear of this appearing as 'spam' I won't post the address, but most of y'all know what I'm talking about.

Both me and EndlessCoda have been up VERY late to get this running where it is now. Check it out, and report ANY errors directly to me with as many details as you can provide.

I go ni ni

I can't find anything either.
Heck, post a link.
I'll take the wrap if it comes to that. I'd like to hear it.

If you'd of posted a link to it I might of known where the hell to go.
I've totally lost interest in snooping around for something where I have no idea where it is. Maybe that's why so few others have posted here.
Hope all goes well for you.

badgas,

It's not that I posted new tunes (Hell, I hardly ever post any of my work, let alone connected to me), I own NoWhere Radio...

I didn't post the link because alot of the reg's here know that, and I just finished a whole bunch of proposed upgrades from Nov. and was letting everyone here that knows, know.

I've gotten alot of feedback aside from this post, and didn't really ask anyone give feedback here, was just wondering what dobro's post about not being able to find any music there was about, since I know he knows!!

W.

Oh. I didn't know. Sorry.
I understand now.
I'll check them out. I've been there before and listened to a few guys. I even have it bookmarked.
Thanks.

Ok, I'm all signed up and see the difference.
Cool.
Sorry for the confusion.
Ya gotta understand I'm a thick headed redneck. Everything has to be in black and white for me to see it. :)

Not a worry.

Hey, anyone got a good cure for insomnia? Been awake nearly 72 hours straight now....

One word:

BENDER.

:D

1) Streaming not up yet.

2) Can't find download links/icons.

3) Is this page dynamic? Will it get "longer" if tons of songs are added in a given time period? With a bit of length, you might add a "Popular Tracks" section or something from the homepage there... it's kinda "loaded" towards the new music at the moment, although that may be what you're lookin' for there... (sorry, I don't ICQ or IRC, so I can't get in on your chats there, Waldo).

4) Not too crazy on the color scheme. Feels like Miami... ;)

I vote for more of the sepia and brownage. Goes better with the unavoidable shit I'll end up having to post there later on... :D (seriously, I dug that montage you made with the chick guitarist and such, that was interesting to see there...)

I feel strongly that you put the complete list of artists on each "genre" page. That is, when you click on "Comedy," it doesn't just show the one or two bands that have posted in the last week or so. Maybe have those towards the top of the page, but have direct links to all bands in that genre from that page.

The key to your site (IMHO) is simple navigation. It's a bit confusing at the moment.

Insomnia? RTFM, any manual, you'll be asleep in no time.

Okay Kelly,

1) Streaming is up, however, I am not running 'Live' shows again until everything is all done... I suppose that is what you are talking about.

2) Can't find the download icons? They're the same as they used to be... Could you elborate?

3) No, the page will not get longer, it is set to list only a set number of items for each group. The ratings system will be based on actual ratings, as apposed to the most common (and annoying) system where popular artists get more popular, and new artists go unheard. There will be a chart system in place, but it will not be first and foremost, because what you like, and what I like may be two different things (as far as music).... Features for albums and reviews will eventually fill up the front page I imagine.

4) Color scheme is there because of NetScrape compatibility issues. One concern that was brought up is that alot of people couldn't view half the pages. This was due to the fact that netscape does not render background table images properly... The 'look' wasn't so much the focus of this revision, rather the functionality for the artists.

I'll be dropping more time into the 'look' when everything is running 100%, and I can afford some more software and hardware... Which may be a while since I am 'still' unemployed... Ick.

Anyways, where was I... Oh yeah, I liked the imagry of the old site too, it'll be back to something original rather than simple once everything is running well.

6) The individual genre pages... There IS a link to browse all of the artists in each genre, sorted alphabetically, in the menu section of the main genre page, if that is what you are talking about. Listing all of the artists right off the bat on the page will; Take a long time to load on the users side, as hundreds of artists data sets would have to be parsed, and then loaded... Imagine scrolling through 300 artists to find the one you are looking for.... Server load would be increased largely, as 40 or 50 pages would have to be updated every time an artist changes something in their account (eg. they add a song).

The seperate section will eventually allow you to list in whatever form you want.

Unfortuneatly, some categories do not have many artists, I may nix the categories if things don't improve...

Anytime you see an artists name, it is a link...

Anybody volunteering to help out is not turned away if they can cut the mustard (EndlessCoda is now on the coding team, so it makes two people, myself included)

Anyways, if that clarifies anything, or confuses, let me know ;)

The thing I'm worried about with the limited number of bands/artists on each Genre's page (yes, I was referring to the dropdown "goto" sections) is that if you don't have many new artists, it looks like a bare cubbard. I found that there were actually many (well, MORE) artists in a genre, but I had to hunt them down using search and such. May I suggest maybe a simple 3-link system towards the top of the page, with a "A->G", "H->Q", "R->Z" type of a link up top? I know you've got that "list all artists," but... I dunno. If there were a cookie to enable me to "list all artists" all the time, I'd enable it (as far as my preferences for this client, not your design).

I will also use NoWhere to try and get various bands in this area to post there... are you planning geographical listings as well? I know it's a pain, but something where you can find bands within 10 or 30 miles would probably be useful (and a first for such a site); it might be worth considering.

I dunno.... I suppose I'm thinking the same stuff you were when you first started designing the page, and I apologize for that (I always feel a need to keep moving forward).

There are no links to download songs. I don't know if that's because the songs aren't imported into some new client database you have or something, but there are no links to music on any of the bands I have visited. No lofi download, no hifi download, no songs, for that matter. Your song-listing script isn't kicking in, I suppose...

Is this helping, btw? I don't want to just rant... so lemme know.

Aw, man! There's nothing in children's music. That's a total bummer. I'll have to record some of the cheesy camp songs I make my living with and put them in there. Lord knows I've got too many of the d@mn things rolling around in my head...

Don't nix that category yet, Waldo.

I suppose I should be realistic, though: I wonder how many other people will put stuff in that category.

Great idea, though. There should be more stuff for kids on sites like yours.

Take care, and thanks for the great site. Now that I can erase stuff I'll likely post my new mixes there.

Chris

Waldo - okay, I'm stupid, but I figured out how to get access to the music on the site. Duh.

I second Kelly's opinion, btw:

"4) Not too crazy on the color scheme. Feels like Miami...

I vote for more of the sepia and brownage. Goes better with the unavoidable shit I'll end up having to post there later on... (seriously, I dug that montage you made with the chick guitarist and such, that was interesting to see there...)"

I don't mind much what the site looks like, but I gotta say the previous site looked *so* cool. Brown pages, purples pages, lovely guitarist, nice fonts.

I don't care what it looks like.
It's just eye candy.
It's the tunes that make the site.

I've listened to a lot, but there is one that is,,, weird.
I don't remember the catagory, nor who did it. Something about dieing. Cripes,,, what the hell is that all about?
Hope it wasn't your song, Waldo.
