OK...Two more opportunities for you to kick my ass...

Hey! Thanks!!

Actually, what I did was record the two guitar tracks in stereo. So there are actually 4 tracks. I panned one track a hard left and one to a hard right.

THEN I added a Stereo Widening effect (I'm partial to the BlueStereo plugin, myself) and adjusted the mix and spatial knobs to what I wanted.

Helen!

GO GIRL!

Nice intonation on this one. (you used the autotune ........come on, 'fess up..... )

Either way, this is NOT the same voice I critiqued 2 months ago...........whatever you are doing, keep it up!

(also , I respect you big-time, as I felt I was quite hard on you with that first post & I actually had a difficult time hitting the 'submit reply' box, yet your response to my direct critique was one of true humility, grace & non-defensive....) [a breath of fresh air]

Nice song!

Guitar panning should be less off to the right and more centered.

Eden could be successful w/ a full blown arrangement, as the guitar execution is not on the same par as the superb vocal track.

'Sticktoitiveness' is my absolute favorite word!!!!

Once again, GO GIRL!

and I have a question.maybe it's just a simple question.
How to make that 2 guitar tracks appear clearly in left and right side.
everytime I pan 2 guitar tracks(same riff)one to left, one to right,it seems that only one track in centre.I want to make it wide.
not only guitar,string also like that.please help~:)
You actually have to play the part twice. This technique does not work if you just copy an existing track. It's the subtle differences that occur when playing the same material two separate times that bring out this approach. If the two tracks are exactly the same, it doesn't work (as you have already experienced).

Sorry for hijacking the thread, Shaky. Just wanted to answer anywhither's question. Back to your regularly scheduled program. :D

Listened to Eden.

I don't know, any chance you can get a guitar player? I can barely get through the song due to the sound and playing of the guitar, it's really, really bad. I think you know that.

On the bright side, this song is better than the stuff you put up before, I like the song, it has great potential and your voice suits this...

Hey Shaky - Downloaded last night & listening at work on headphones.

I listened to your last offering, so I wanted to check this out as well.

It Got You Too

I have pretty much the same comments as last time when it comes to the song and vocals. However, the new mix sounds a lot better to me. The panning out of the guitar actually helps the sound of your voice to my ears..

Just This Side of Eden

I’m going to refrain from and critique of the song itself at this point. Your lyrics are generally a lot deeper than my brain is able to comprehend on a couple of listens, so I would have to study the lyrics a little deeper. If you would like me to do that, I’d be glad to put some time into it. Just one thing, this song was a lot easier for me to listen to than “It Got You Too”. I think the fact that you brought this one in under 3:30 helped that a bit.

Your voice sounds much better to me on this one. It sounds like you are laying off a bit and not forcing it. I think this style of singing and this range works for you. I will add that though I like this style & range for your voice, you need to be careful that your are still properly supporting it. I hear a little (not much mind you) wavering in couple spots. I catch a little of that harshness creep back in around the bridge where you are trying to push it out again.

The mixing of the guitar is much better than in the original version of “It Got You Too”. The playing is still a little shaky but listenable. (heh, so is mine for what I do).

I would call this an improvement over your last offering. Good job. :)

I've just listened to the first song (eden tune). You've improved the voice immensely! It could probably use a little more work, but I think you've got the right idea...don't force it. I could only hear the "parrot" a few times. You're starting to sound like a real folk singer.

You might also want to use a click track. I can tell you're kind of wandering around a bit, off here and there with the guitars.

I like the picture by the way, it looks like you're hammered off your ass in a parking garage after a White Snake concert...good stuff.:D

this side of eden

excellent song. very nice hook. good singing. terrible guitar LOL.

i really like that song though........i'm off to find my guitar and learn that one.

Dang!! I thought this thread was lost forever!!

Thanks so much everyone!! I blew out my voice earlier this week, so I'm resting it as I work on some Techno (hubby's birthday is next week). I really need to do the vocals on some of those tunes (like "It Got You Too..."), so it might be a bit befor that happens (possibly next week).

As for the guitar...I think part of the bridge needs some adjustment. I need to bring it into the local guitar shop anyway...

I need to work my technique as well...
