i purchased a firebox and it advertises phantom power 48 volts worth etc. It works with all instruments, except for when i plug in my mxl 990 which requires phantom power. I read somewhere that you cant use a quarter inch adapter so how the hell am I supposed to use the phantom power. do i need some sort of preamp? please help thanks.

and if it supports phantom power with no xlr input does that mean its just really cheap or what

No interface will supply phantom power over a TRS or TS jack and there's a very good reason for it.

Preamps and a phantom power supply are built into the interface.
Use an XLR male to XLR female cable.

It works with all instruments,

What??!!?? It doesn't work with ANY instruments!!! Phantom Power is ONLY for certain mics, like your MXL990. You must use an XLR cable to power your mic. No nothing about 1/4" anything!!! Only an XLR cable to your mic.

holy shit you just blew my mind wow. thank you i thought the whole world was like on drugs im like yelling THATS OBV A QTR JACK WTFoh damn i feel so much better now
