of these drums. What do you like about them? What do you hate about them?....THANKS

I am trying the XY mic setup with my overheads and i think its working. You tell me.

That sounds really good! The only thing I would change is the kick drum. I think it could be more distinguishable/sharper.

thanks - my job today is to tweak the bass drum, mic placememt ..etc.

i have the resonant head off with an evans emad on the beater side with the damper on and a couple of moon gels on the beater side. i am using a DW felt beater. i have the mic inside the drum pointing 2-3 inches from the beater.

any suggestions of how to fix the kick to make it sound tighter/better?

You might try to change out the beater to a wood or hard plastic unit. That will give it a little more snap but first play with placement of the mic to see if you can squeeze a little more out of the set up already in place. A little EQ on the kick drum might bring a little attack to the show as well.

All in all pretty nice. Let us hear what you come up with.

try dampening your snare and put the mic further insid off axis with the beater and use hard beaters, the guitar is horribly out of time.

I'm wondering what kind of kit and cymbals are you using.
The recording seems ok just some kind of ring going on.
Mic bleed through maybe?

haha, i know the guitar is out of time. so is everything else including the drums. i was in a rush and just wanted something to hear in my car. it was a scratch take for a song idea and i just wanted to hear the drums with it very quickly. its very sloppy playing.

I think ive fixed the kick problem. i flipped the dw beater head from the felt side to the plastic side and i bought one of those evans pilliows that lay inside the bass drum. i also adjusted the mic position a bit. ill try to put up an actual song very soon so you can critique it.

thanks!
