Ok i have written a track! just using VST's, will be adding vocals, the question i have is how do i make BIG sounding vocals like the beginning to Bon jovis song

Shock to the heart, and your to Blame.

or DEF Lepards stuff

they have really big sounding vocals.

Also the next question i have is what do i do master this song i have! theres ZERO effects in it, i have a bassline with a guitar as a bassline also, some piano synth sound, Drums, and guitars..

I have mixed it in the mixer F3 on cubase 5 to make it sound at least not messy, but is there other techniques i should be doing to make the song sound bigger better etc.. ty all

That's an extremely broad question and probably doesn't belong in the Mastering forum. It seems to me you're not even at the mixing stage, so forget about mastering for now.

As far as big vocals like the examples you gave, those are usually done with multiple takes (and I mean MULTIPLE!!!), lots of reverb and Mutt Lange at the controls. You can get sort of kind of close with the first 2, but I don't think Mutt Lange would be available. :)

Maybe if you ask him really, really, really nicely.

ask who what nicely lol im confused! okkay So i mixed down my file to WAV as thats an option but sadly doesnt give mp3 option doesnt sound bad! but hmmm something sounds MUDDY sounds perfect on cubase 5 but the mixdown sounds totally different.

Maybe its because of my soundcard setup ill have to burn it on disc see how it goes on a hifi, I use 2 soundcards a Standard gaming soundcard, and a Tascam us-1800 sound from that sounds perfect playing back on cubase sx 5 but damn listening to it on my other sound card makes it sound muddy in places...

anyhow so you say multiple takes, hehe thats what i like to hear! i just done like 10 takes on first part of my song, and 15 on another, to get the best sound i basically just used Stacking parts i sounded bad in i just cut, and used other parts from other takes..

when you say not on the mixing stage? do you mean getting the levels right for all the instruments, as i have allready done so!

OK, I'm having trouble understanding that. But, just to be clear. Multiple takes means performing the same part multiple times. It doesn't mean copying the same part over itself.

thats correct! theres about 10 takes, i select say 5 parts out of the 10 takes which are all recorded differently well the same but same if you knowwhat i mean, otherwise if u copy paste the sound will get louder!
