What's up with that drum beat? The snare hits at all odd times.. as if it doesn't really have any set pattern. Anywhoo... the guitars are fine.. they're a little flat.. you could use to brighten them up a little... but the playing is fine..

The vocals, on the other hand, sit way to far back in the mix.. the vocal "sound" itself isn't bad (I'm not exactly partial to it, but I can see the "style" you're going for) but they're just way to quiet.

So.. in summary.. :p I'd say EQ those guitars to put a little more life in em... bring the vocal mix up,... and.. uh.. decide on a drum beat... :p

I'd swear that countoff was out of time too....:eek:

sounds kinda reminisant of southern rock, to me...for some reason.
 
Thanks, we've been tring to figure this all out. I'm new to the mix part. I was thinking about having blue bear do the mix for us.

Ps. I just seen mixmkr post, that interesting, I've always been partial to southern rock. Good Stuff...
 
Flash.......... Hmmmm....good song.....good guitar playing and singing and good programming skills but :eek: as a drummer, those drum sounds kill my ears :D

lol.. I'm such a dork.. I was tryin' to figure out his short url.. I tried "gypsyriff" and "gypsy_riff" and "GyspyRiff".. lol.. I guess I shoulda checked "flash" first... :rolleyes: :p

Hey Flash,

mixmkr hit the nail on the head. The low vox was really bothersome. I think you've a good song here and the tracking doesn't seem to be an issue but, everything is flatted out and dull regarding the mix. If you can fix it, post the upgrade cause the song deserves it and I wanna listen:D

No where near as bad as it was described imhop..

The drum fills and accents are in strange spots, but it's not as bad as some of the other tunes I have heard.. I like the vocals and the tune..


I'm sure Blue Bear could do wonders with this..

However, imop, you have to learn to do it yourself.. After you hear what a pro does, I'm sure it might give you ideas to do the next one yourself.. then maybe send it out to get mastered.. Although I still have never done that, I too have been considering contacting Blue Bear to see how much he would charge..


Your not that far off... The song is cool.. Just needs some e.q. and raise the vocals up 'a bit.' People here sometimes like extremely loud vocals, but if you listen to music at loud volumes like I do, the vocals shouldn't always be the loudest thing imhop..

(I'm sure I'll get flamed for that) :D


Yeah the drums are a little strange, but not unlistenable.. cool tune..

Thnks, listen this is the first mix and I'm def. new to this. I woulds love to do my own mixes, maybe soon.... Keep playin'... I gotta get to bed 6:00 COMES TO EARLY. I check in tomorrow.
 
Cool tune.I actually listened to it from the Nowhere front page before you posted.It's right up my alley being from the deep south.Sounds like southern rock all the way.The lead guitar takes it off in that direction.I like it.

People pay money to listen to this stuff in bars down here.:D
 
I'm with sam....the drums didn't bother me as much as they bothered some folks. I thought the guitar playing was nice and I agree that the vocals should come up but not too much. I also could have stood a bit more of the lead guitar.
 
I like the tune, good playing and catchy ZZ Topish. The recording sucks a lotta butt, but you know that and I know it will get better. Thanks for the listen.

Hey guy's, thanks for the reply's. I got a buddy I think I'm going to ask to come over tonight and go over the mix. He's been mixing a whole lot longer than I have. Then I'll repost the song and let ya know. Man, did I have one to many beers last night. Hour late for work and all, Good thing it's friday...
 
I agree with above comments. Vocals could come forward and the drums seem to go into a roll at strange times.
 
agree on low vocals, agree that drums are strange but could work with some tweaks, good tune and gtr playing....

I just have to say thanks guy's, before I goto bed at 3 in the morn. Good thing tomorrow is saturday. I love this bbs and the help you guy's give. I posted a revision on the song because of your comments, I hope its better. Shit I'm goin' to bed now... Peace to all
