RAMI

...for "Little Purple Circles".

I've had this CD for a few months now and I still play it all the time....AND I never hit the FF button. Every single tune kicks ass.

The influences are endless. From Harry Nillson to 10CC to the Beatles to Randy Newman......Great wrting, playing, production. I can't stop raving about these guys' music.

You can get it HERE. I think you can hear samples there too.

I love these guys.

oh yeah...........I'm drunk and stoned. I'm droned....or stunk...But I love these guys when I'm straight too.

(hey Supercreep....is that different CD cover I see in the picture? Mine was just "The Purple Album")

I just made 2 400 mile treks.....and that cd played along, with something from an asshat named RAMI...go figure..... :D

I heard his parents was aliens.....or Coneheads....

My daddy left home when I was three
And he didn't leave much to ma and me
Just this old guitar and a pair of jammies
Now, I don't blame him cause he run and hid
But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was before he left, he went and named me RAMI.

Well, he must o' thought that is quite a joke
And it got a lot of laughs from a' lots of folk,
I once had to fight some bitch named Tammy
Some gal would giggle and I'd get red
And some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head,
I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named RAMI.

Well, I grew up quick and I grew up mean,
My fist got hard and my wits got keen,
I'd roam from town to town to hide my shame.
But I made a vow to the moon and stars
That I'd search the honky-tonks and bars
And kill that man who gave me that awful name.

Well, it was Gatlinburg in mid-July
And I just hit town and my throat was dry,
I thought I'd stop and have myself a salami
At an old saloon on a street of mud,
There at a table, dealing stud,
Sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me RAMI

Well, I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
From a worn-out picture that my mother'd had,
And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye.
He was big and bent and gray and old,
And I looked at him and my blood ran cold
And I said: "My name is RAMI!!! I My skin is clammy!!!
Now your gonna die!!"

Well, I hit him hard right between the eyes
And he went down, but to my surprise,
He come up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear.
But I busted a chair right across his teeth
And we crashed through the wall and into the street
Kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer.

I tell ya, I've fought tougher men
But I really can't remember when,
He kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile.
I heard him laugh and then I heard him cuss,
He went for his gun and I pulled mine first,
He stood there lookin' at me and I saw him smile.

And he said: "Son, this world is rough
And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough
And I knew I wouldn't be there to help ya along.
So I give ya that name and I said goodbye
I knew you'd have to get tough or die
And it's the name that helped to make you strong."

He said: "Now you just fought one hell of a fight
And I know you hate me, and you got the right
To kill me now, and I wouldn't blame you bent me over and proceeded to ram me
But ya ought to thank me, before I die,
For the gravel in ya guts and the spit in ya eye
Cause I'm the son-of-a-bitch that named you RAMI

I got all choked up and I threw down my gun
And I called him my pa, and he called me his son,
And I came away with a different point of view.
And I think about him, now and then,
Every time I try and every time I win,
And if I ever have a son, I think I'm gonna name him
Bill or George! Anything but RAMI I still hate that name!

Oh, THAT LPC (Little Purple Circles) CD.
I know that one. It sits in the little box beside my CD player that holds my high rotation bundle.
It's a SUPERB album.
It sits beside the current whole house rockin' RAMI disc, the simply sweet Ido1957 pre release sampler, Walter Tore's Blues Bonanza, David Kempers' classic berserker for circuits'n'strings & Timothy Lawler's sumptuous set for acoustic guitars, (oh, hold on that one's missing - my old man borrowed it & won't give it back), in addition to Songs of Love & Hate, Pet Sounds, Imperial Bedroom, Boy Child and the 1st Mull Historical Society CD.
In fact, apart from a few old psych albums I've chased up lately, this forum has provided me with the bulk of my listening pleasure.
Imagine what a compilation taken from this section of the BBS would sound like. I know as I have a couple I put together.
But back on topic the LPC album is a classic that should be picked up by someone in the business if they had any nouse.
Oh, RAMI, I hope no-one is liable to sue over the libelous lyrics.

Clever. :D

I'm really digging this CD alot. The arrangements, the playing, the lyrics...it's all there.

Wow. Just saw this thread.

Rami, you're too kind. It's really, really great to know that a few people seem to really enjoy the record. In fact, it's musicians that seem to appreciate us the most.

Thanks for the encouraging comments. We will always strive to do better (and there's all kinds of room for growth and improvement!!!)

Keep rockin' everyone--

Thanks guys. You don't know how much I appreciate it.

I've been like a one legged man at an ass-kickin' contest at work for the past few weeks.... This was really nice. Thanks.

There is so much talent here.. and more importantly, so many good people.

I hope to see some of you at JF this August.

RAMI, perhaps you can teach me to play a guitar.

Dogman, I love you, but I cannot - nay - WILL NOT have you peeing in my butt or other such nonsense.

Incanus however is under no such compunction. You may use him as you see fit.

Ray............ Thank you. For everything. The review you left at Nowhere radio was thoughtful. I am in your debt.

Hey guys...You deserve it.

There is alot of great talent here. But it's also nice to see an "Independant" artist, and someone that posted their songs as they developed, take the next step. And I think we should help each other out if we sicerely like someone else's music.

Believe me, I'll be the first to buy a Munschausen and Pigmy Beat CD and posting about them too.

But, without laying it on thick at all, I truly enjoy this CD very often.

It's such a listenable treat.....and as much as I enjoy each track as I listen to it, I'm always excited to hear what's next....it's so tight and playful and fresh and reverent....and,....well....musical.... :D
.....I'd like to add my appreciation - and I'm not a musician, really....just part of your grateful listening public.... ;)
