tonight is the night.. i order my Pacifc FS All Birch drums any last words to hold me back or something to buy with it?

toms are 10 12 14 snare 14 kick 22. then ive decided on remo pinstripes for all and then a coated emperor for snare.

Cymbals

21" Sabian AA Rock Ride
K\Z Zildjian Hi-hats
Then for crashes i think im getting some of those Zildjian studio series

THose are good choices. I like the tom sizes. My drummer uses those exact size drums and I think they work pretty well. On my cheap kit at home I have 12, 13, rack toms and a 16 floor. I don't mind the rack toms so much but I'm not too much into the 16 floor tom.
How deep is your kick?

i dont know what any of anything sounds like yet i just ordered them.... i cant wait :D

oh wait a minute do you mean the actual mesurement depth ... if so its 22 x 18

Sorry, that is what I meant the dimensions. :D
I happy for you man. Let us know when they come in.

hm... i find Paiste to be superior to Sabian and ZIldjian.

I agree, those are good sizes.

I don't like 16"x16" toms either, but I do like 14"x16" (Depth x Diameter) as it sounds more uniform with the rest of the mounted toms.

I never did like the 12"-13"-16" combination....generally because I don't like a 12" and 13" together. 13" to 16" is a good step, and if you have an 18" you can get the "Dom-Dam-Doom" tuning as I've read so many of th old timer's call it.

my favorite combination...
8x8
10x9
12x10
13x11
14x12
16x16
18x16

and any other s9izes u can think of. the more the merrier.

does anyone have any better ideas for crashes .... i dont know if those studio crashes will be the sound im looking for

Depends on what style you play. I personally don't really like Sabian or Z CUstoms much. K Customs are nice, but my favorites are Paiste SIgnature. The SIgnature Full crashes are really awesome. But at the same time, its up to you. If you can, try testing different brands at a music store

well have to ever heard Chris Layton's Crashes (SRV drummer) those are what i want..... and i know he used paiste

i agree w/'til'...paiste sigs are really nice...i have a 16" A custom and an 18" paiste sign (fast crash)...fulls are nice too...the fast just fit what i was looking for better...the other thing regarding cymbals...it is really nice if you can have your current cymbal setup (or at least a crash and your ride) with you when you purchase add'l so that you can demo them together. most good stores will let you put on a demo kit and punch a kick while you listen to the different sounds...in fact, i was looking at buying a 18" a custom when i purchase my paiste sig...the paiste sig sounded great w/my other crashes and ride...much better than the a custom...anyhow my 2 cents...

i use a 13" and a 16" tom and i think that works really well. if i were u i would by a 24" kick drum instead.

i have a friend with a set of K's, they record beautifully.
