OK, I hate to say it, but the stand alone porta studio is dead (almost)

NAMM has come and gone. AFAIK Tascam did not introduce any new products or announcements in this area.

The few that they do still list on their web site do not offer:
- MIDI for syncing up a drum machine, etc. (This is a major issue for me.)
- A CD drive for burning CDs and backing up work. (Truth be told I could probably get by without this.)

If they just hadn't obsoleted the DP-24 or DP-32..................

Oh well. When my 788 dies it looks like it's off to the PC/MAC/software world.
 
My brand new dp32 is currently in the hands of ups....yes the one with midi!
 
Maybe...

Maybe there is something still in development that will be unveiled at the next NAMM. You never know.
