OK, here's what I've got, what's next on the list???

Hi Guys,

I've spent a bit of cash over the last couple of weeks, and I think that I've got a pretty good starting base of gear so far. I was wondering what the next item I should consider buying would be.

Here's what I've got so far.......most of this has been suggested by everyone here at the BB.

Good PC.
Cool Edit Pro w/Adobe Audition upgrade.
M-Audio Delta 1010
Two DBX 163X compressors
Studio Projects VTB1 preamp
Two SM 57's
Beta 58
Beta 57
Senn. E609 Original
Studio Projects B3
Studio Projects C1

I will mostly be recording on track at a time, or one instrument any way which may require 2 mic's at the same time..........So I'm guessing I'll need another preamp or two (DMP3???) or a small mixer?? After that, I'm not sure what the next logical thing would be....any suggestions???

What kind of monitors are you using?

I had a bunch of pretty good gear - similar to the kind of level stuff you have listed above...a couple of years ago.

I was using an Aardvark card and running from the monitor out into an A/V reciever...which was connected to a pair of Boston Acoustics bookshelf speakers (crummy ones).

Also used an Altec Lansing computer speaker set for monitoring at times...

And I can say without a doubt nothing made a bigger difference in my end results, ease of use, and overall enjoyment of my gear - than my Mackie HR824s.

Crap! I knew I forgot something!!!

See, I've just purchased all (had some) of this stuff, but I haven't actually hooked it up yet (Waiting for the Delta 1010 to get here.)

I'm guessing that the 1010 has a monitor out? If so, I've got an Onkyo Integra Receiver, and some older DCM CX-17 monitors.......they should work well.....you think?

What about headphones for monitoring? I've heard not to use them for mixing down, but how about general monitoring?
