Ok. Best B3 emulation/Best Rhodes emulation.

There's got to be some good stuff out there.. I have some synths, and want the best electromechanical and organ sounds, but a Hammond B3 and a Rhodes suitcase are just not practical for me, the poor recording musician. I use a Motu 896hd, PC, and Cakewalk. II have a decent controller so software would be a nice option, but if I have to get the hardware that's a possibility. I've heard some Native Instruments stuff and I've heard the "lounge lizard". What do you guys think?
 
Using Sonar you'll need to use a VST to DirectX adapter like FXPansions or Cakewalks. My opinion the best Emulations are Native Instruments B4, and Lounge Lizard respectively (however I hear the new Native Instruments Electric Piano is really nice, but I haven't heard it myself).
 
B4 by NI is hands down superior compared to anything else I`ve heard emulating a B3.

I will? What the F is that? I thought a midi interface would be sufficient!
 
Are you asking what a adapter (wrapper) is? Basically Sonar supports DirectX synths. The synths I mentioned are VST synths. The adapter basically loads as a directX synth in sonar, and when you open it up, you can load VST synths (It also allows you to use VST effects in place of DirectX effects). Both the Native Instruments synths and Lounge Lizard are available in both formats. Both the freebies are mentioned also act as Stand-Alone software synths (Via the included SAVI Host program).

Thanks. Sonar 3 apparently does have a decent "wrapper". I still need to hook this up through a USB MIDI box, right?

Another decent cheap plugin that used to be free is called NUBI. It's still in development but even the betas sound good. Much cheaper than B4. In case money is an issue. :)
 
Holy crap the NI B4 is amazing! Not as cool as a real B3, but it still makes me smile every time I use it.
