Hi, guys.
There is probably an easy answer to this prob, but how can I get my lovely speaker and ear busting sound to become a little more analogue??
I have sonar and is filtering the only way to go?
Thanks.:D

What sound are you looking for when you say you want "the analog sound"???

The Sound

A lot of the stuff I'm doing doesnt seem to have the Soft Mids and roundness, it is too bright, Im looking for a more mellow overhaul sound. Ive tried Compressing, and probably not correctly, and tried more bass less trebles and I end up with a boomy mishmash. Maybe its me and I need to tweak what I have but I was just wondering if thier was a way of converting what i have to a more analogue finish.
Hope clears the mud,lol
Thanks
Ray

Well... you have 2 possibilities.... since you don't mention your actual gear, I'm shooting in the dark here....

1) Are the tracks sounding the way you want them to before recording? And then, on playback they don't sound good?
This points to cheap A/D converters doing their worst... in this case, the only thing you can do is upgrade the converters or get a external unit. Or you can upgrade your recording system.

2) Are the tracks sounding muddy before they are recorded? If so, WHY??? This may be a problem with your monitoring system, poor mic selection/placement, or simply that you're not doing your job properly engineering the recording!

Without more gear details it's hard to be more specific........

Sometimes using the ' FX tape simulation' plug-in helps achieve the effect you are describing.

AIPL WarmTone 2.1
THIS MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT HELP, I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE USING OR DOING
SOME THOUGHTS TO FATTEN UP A SOUND
COPY AND PASTE FILE TO DIFFERENT TRACK, MOVE EVER SO SLIGHTLY SO THAT COPIED TRACK IS SLIGHTLY DELAYED,
PAN.
WORK WITH THE EQ.
DO TWO SEPERATE TAKES AS EXACT AS POSSIBLE, PAN, EQ
(JIMMY PAGE)
DISTORTED GUITAR, DO FOUR DIFFERENT TAKES, PAN, EQ.
USE A VERY SLIGHT DELAY.
OHM BOYZ HAS AN EXCELLENT DELAY TO TRY OUT VERY FAT SOUNDING-
TRY THE CAKEWALK AMP SIM IN SONAR.
THE GREAT THING ABOUT DIGITAL IS THAT YOU HAVE MANY MORE
VARIBLES TO WORK FROM-
EXPERIMENT!!!
