This is totally removed from home recording but has anyone had experience with mics that can be used specifically with video cameras?
Any advice would be welcome.

My penny's worth!

I am the audio/musician in the family, while one of my brothers
is into the Visual Arts. He videos's weddings, Bar mitzvah's,dances
etc, etc, etc. He uses 4 digital cameras but did not like the mic's on each. He purchased 2, SONY ECM-44B Omni-directional Lavalier mics. Since a lot of what he video's contain spoken & musical audio,(including documentary work) the ECM's were perfect for his use. They have a freq response of 40-20,000 hz, are small and
lightwieght and runs on a single "AA" battery. they can be camera mounted and/or clip mounted and has a small windscreen
and cute, little shockmount with adapter to control vibrations when he's moving the cameras around!

Thanks Q,

I'm actually asking for a friend who is doing similar stuff to your brother but has just upgraded his camera gear and wants better mics. Funnily enough this guy would be more at home in these forums, having been the singer with bands during the early 80's and appeared on the same bill as some of the world's top rock bands in the past.

Peace.......ChrisO
