Odd Midi Problem!

I have a midi track on one of my songs that just plays a long constant chord. The chord is just A played at 3 different octaves (C0, C1, C2) so that it sounds full and lies underneath other parts of the music. I'm using NI Bandstand as the output to play some strings with it. I've created the midi clip by hand by just drawing 3 long, continuous notes in the key editor, the clip is 16 bars long at 105bpm. Upon playback it appears to be playing fine, a constant sustained chord like I want, until about the 9th or 10th bar into the clip where it just stops playing even though there is still midi data. It's like it just runs out and i'm not sure why, because the key editor is set for one long continuous note. Any ideas why it might do this? Is there a time limit on how long one specific note can be held? Any ideas??

I presume its based on the sample...most instruments will have an attack and then a decay length..ask scientist.

try using the sustain event instead of holding down the note. Just play the note in the editor (1/4 or 1/8th) and have the sustain (cc64) in the controller lane set to 127 (the on position) at the same time. Its not a decay release thing since its already going so long, my guess is that it expects a note off and eventually times out. The sustain thing will drone on for hours

It may well be a patch design issue - try other patches such as a pad to see if the notes can be sustained that long. Some patches decay ignore note off events and are based on time.
