What's up Indie?
I know absolutely nothing about techno but figured i'd give it a listen. This isn't like anything like techno stuff I remember hearing. I really don't know what to look for in this type of music. Can you explain tribal techno a little for me? What are some things I should look for in a track like this?

I listened to both tracks and - not bad.
They're sort of straightforward ambient tribal mixes with a darker bent. I wouldn't call them "inspired" but, yeah, not too bad.
You definitely need to invest in a decent reverb though. All your verbs have that cheap "popcorn on a tin plate" sound.

what gear?
just plain old fruity loops with the stock samples- I use all the effects that I can on it and do a lot of tweaking on them. fruityloops is a simple program for creating synth loops and drum loops but its difficult to program the "music" to have melodies and not sound all FAKE. No gear, just the software and my pickled brain.
