Hi All,

Before I ask my question, let me say that I have used the search feature in the board and have found alot of good dope re: NTFS vs. FAT32. BUT, my specific question is probably too basic and what I read was for another time.

Anyway, I have 2 hard drives, one with XP PRO and apps loaded on it (NTFS) and the other one with audio files remained in FAT32 (I upgaded and the second one stayed the same).

Should I reformat the other one to NTFS too?

I am experienceing some tracks playing out-of-sync in Cakwalk Pro 9 since the change. I'm also using the Aark DP 24/96 card (of which I am aware of their driver issues and am keeping my fingers crossed for new drivers).

Anyway, any thoughts as to what might be causing my tracks to drift now would be good to hear.

Thanks!

It is unlikely that having your audio drive setup as FAT32 would affect sync. Is your hardware config exactly the same in your pre-XP setup as how you have it now in XP Pro? If it is you might be looking at an aark driver issue. Do you have any other soundcards installed in the machine? If you do the timing setup in Cakewalk may be set to the wrong soundcard. Just some ideas-

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not exactly sure if the set up is the same - it always worked fine before. I DID discover the timing setup that you're referring to and intend to examine it further. My fear is that it IS the drivers. I also have a SoundBlaster - which like I said, never gave me any trouble before co-existing with the 24/96.

Thanks again for the ideas.
