NT5 Omni Capsule

I have had a pair of NT5s for years and never really fell in love with them. Recently I've been trying to improve my acoustic guitar sound for folky solo stuff. Instead of buying a new mic I decided to try the cheap route and get the omni head for the NT5.

So far all I've recorded was some solo acoustic stuff, but it sounds really good! I am very impressed with the omni sound. I've never used any other omni mics, and I'm not sure how this would sound in other applications. But for acoustic guitar the NT5 omni sounds really nice.

Just a tip for any of you who may have NT5s and may be disappointed with them like I was.

Next I wanna try these as overheads!

One very well known professional recording engineer told me he rates the NT5 omnis equal to the Schoeps.

Hmm. Interesting. I've never tried any other omni sdc so I can't compare. But they do sound really nice and natural and full.
