Hey there, I saw on the CMT Music Awards where they were using a large diaphram condenser live for lead vocals. They didn't have a pop filter or wind screen. Question is, is it OK to use my NT2 for live vocals with only a wind screen slipped over the top of the mic? (windscreen for a SM 58 style mic). I tried it for only a minute and it sounded really good with no feedback (acoustic stuff.) I'm mostly concerened with the moisture of my voice harming the diaphram or discoloring the metal windscreen. Thanks for any insight.

tough call.

I wouldn't worry about that...but boy..those are sensitite mics..

I wanted to try it with my NTK, but it was clear that to hear my vocals in the monitors, I was gonna have one hell of a feedback issue.

If it doesn't feed back, then I can't see why you shouldn't use it.

I've been thinking about the same thing (also with an NTK), and I think it should be ok as long as you play acoustic stuff, and don't crank the volume (to avoid feedback)

If you ever try it, tell us how it went!

NT2

During practice I was able to get my vocal volume pretty loud considering. At first there was a little feed back but the feedback destroyer killed them. From there on it sounded much nicer than a Beta 58 or EV 757n. I wasn't really concerned with feed back just the moisture from my vocals damaging or tarnishing the mic. Now I'm trying to use my Oktava MC012 on the acoustic (combined with the pickup) for a more realistic sound. This might be a little more difficult. The Oktava picks up my voice some and of course wants to feed back.

Thanks

Word from RODE is that it's fine.

Just heard from a representative of RODE and they said that with a wind screen it would be fine.
