Ns10's ... "If they sound good on these they will sound good anywhere."

Now is it really worth it to invest in a set of these. I suppose with any speaker, the tweeter or sub will go after a certain amount of time. The only place I was able to find the replacements was on ebay for about $110.00 US each.
I dont have much of a home setup, but I will eventually. I want to invest in some quality mixers that arent going to cause me too much trouble down the road. Something along the lines of a bookshelf or a litter larger would be nice. Powered... hmm would be nice, as long as there isnt too much of a sacrifice in quality, but If not, Im sure I can get my hands on a nice amp. Id like to hear some comments on the ns10's as well as any suggestions you may have for some good studio monitors. I'll mainly be monitoring rock music... acoustic stuff as well... nothing too heavy though, if that matters.

That may be true for some engineers..... personally I can't stand them at all.

Monitor selection is pretty subjective, so you can't go buying monitors based on rhetoric... you need to choose buy hearing them yourself and seeing if they work for your ears.

Ditto w/ Blue Bear.

NS-10s have a tendency of being very fatiguing to listen to for long periods of time. Also they aren't very good for judging bottom end on mixes.
 
Yeah the NS-10's are pretty harsh after a few hours.

Whatever monitor you buy:
If you put a fuse housing on the speaker cable it will reduce the chance of blowing a tweeter a little.

I don't really find them fatiguing at all but they do suck on the low end. If you had used them for 10yrs and were used to their sound then they have some value but there's probably no real reason to get into NS10's now. Replacement woofers and tweeters are also getting hard to find.
 
NS-10s gave me headaches. I stoped using them, and I stoped getting headaches when I mixed. They suck.

I wouldn't suggest learning how to mix on them (especially in these days and times of technology).

tex, now that we are off topic, haha good point. Sensitive guys dont get alot of pussy unless they are married. Try out some Cocky & Funny routine on a couple gorgeous women and bust their balls ... that will surprisingly get you alot further with women that you'd expect... haha 'sensitive' guys

Where should I look for a fuse housing, and will this affect the sound of the monitors?
