Ok, I went on a splurge at Sam Ash and have a bunch of new equipment (thanx to alot of the folks on this site that helped me out with their insights/opinions!!!), but I'm extremely lost on how this all works. My equipment: Layla24, Mackie Mixer, and I'm running Cubase. I have 16 channels on my mixer and I'm confused on how I can record numerous tracks simultaneously into Cubase. For example, let's say I have 8 mics going, does Cubase have the ability to record 8 separate vocalists at once?

I am not sure if I have my in/outs running correctly. I am not sure exactly where the outs of the Layla patch into the mixer, according to the manual, I am to use the first 2 channels only for recording, the rest are to be used from the soundcard to the mixer. This doesn't make much sense to me, if I was recording a bunch of vocalists.

If you have any clue with this stuff, I'd really appreciate it. Thanx!!!

I don't know about the rest of the stuff, but Cubase can record 8 channels at the same time, I don't know about the Layla, but if you have 8 inputs on your soundcard, you can run each mic to a different input through your mixer(or straight into your soundcard if you have an 8 channel preamp), then activate your soundcard inputs in "vst inputs", and select your inputs on the top of each channel in cubase. Activate MultiRecord, and click each track that you want recording on by clicking in the "R" column(where your mute and all that is). Hope this is some of the info you were looking for.
