Why would you physically throw any piece of gear in the garbage?....even a behri can be resold on ebay or something...that was just ignorant

I'm going to be camping out in the landfill sites of Ottawa, waiting for Bruce to chuck the Baby Oxford out!! :)

Can some one please explain to me the purpose of these "whose got the biggest dick" threads.

In a previous post someone posted a link to a recording made with one of the smaller Berry mixers to prove that perfectly acceptable results could be got from them. I thought it was pretty impressive given the simple set-up, no one else bothered to comment, says it all really!!!

To those people who constantly feel the need to deride Behringer gear "Get A Life".

Hi Tony

How did Sounds Expo go for you? I managed to keep my plastic in my wallet and feel much the better for it.

My main highlight lasted for the whole day - I loved how at least half the people in the room were significantly nerdier than me. A rare experience for anyone interested in 'pro audio'. :)

i agree that there are better things to do than rip on behri gear....but there is also no need for newbs with racks full of behri gear to have mad posts towards the bear and the other pro's here.............(i would be included in that whole newb with behri gear, however i also respect Blue and realize that behri gear has no place in a serious studio)

Sometimes gear gets outdated and maybe doesn't work up to spec anymore. You can't get anything for it on eBay, don't have any use for it, it's not worth fixing, and you don't want to take the time to sell something that will get you $25. So you toss it.

I had an Akai S1100 sampler that after ten years worked, but had issues. I spent a fortune on that thing when I bought it new. With all the accessories it came to around $9,000. The 32 megs of RAM alone cost well over $2,000. Ultimately, I ended up selling all the RAM for a total of $100 and tossing the rest in the garbage. It was actually a very good lesson in life (and gear buying)!

About a year ago I bought something on eBay that wasn't working right. Seller said it was perfect, etc., etc., but it was definitely and obviously broken. In short, I got hosed. Not worth fixing, so into the garbage it went.

I won't sell anything on eBay or wherever if it is not working right. Some will do that, push their gear problems onto someone else and try to make a buck at the same time. But I can't do that in good conscience, so I'll just toss it. So there are actually good reasons to toss gear, but it is a habit that I prefer to avoid!

The highlight for me was the Live/PA forum, the sound was bloody awfull!!!

Overall a bit disappointed, had a go at the Behringer Rep about their use of shitty IDC connectors, he just gave me a silly smile.

I bought one of the Behringer EP2500 amps that you were interested in a few months ago but I only payed £189.00, now that is a bargain for a 2 x 1200 watt amp. Build quality seems fine and it sounds OK, I'll keep you informed.

I find the choice of monitors that a lot of you guys use to be a joke, wharfies, alesis, etc but I don't bang on about it every time they are mentioned. Live and let live.

Tony

p.s I could find a use for a Wharfedale monitor but only as a door stop

Cool because that situation still hasn't been resolved. I've been struggling under-powered with the amp section of a PMX2000 and a really old Cloud (which has zero high frequencies) to handle the vocals + instruments respectively. Getting there with a managable sound but the answer still lies in a higher-power amp for that particular setting.

Getting people who run charities to open their cheque book instead of their begging hat is a tough job!! :)

Blimey! Was this the day that Wilkee bit back?? Admittedly I'm way jealous of those ATCs....

I am a member of a forum for PA gear etc*. and before buying the Berry amp I asked a question to see if anyone had any experience with the EP2500. Every reply was in the positive. As I know most of these guys really push their equipment (they do the sound at raves etc) I thought it would be worth a gamble.

that chairinger pic, awesome !

now, i'm thinking of buying some behringer DI's, don't think it'd do any harm,
but honestly, i compared my PX1000 balanced (berry) patchbay
with my VERY OLD and beaten up RE-AN patchbay,

and the re-an was maybe 1 or 2 DB louder !

was i freaking out on that moment or do even the "berhinger-things that don't use electricity" provide "lower" quality?

i love behringer for their knobs and buttons,
no other company has so many of them, so i used some of their stuff to learn to work with it, but then !! THEN
when you try to sell your 1-year-old behringer machine !!

GOD, by then they released fivehundred other products that are even cheaper and bigger than your little mixer or FX unit....

i stay away from it now, its a little bit like throwing away your money..
their stuff might work well, but looses its value every minute
that means i should get rid of my mx602 before it makes me bankrupt !

hehe

I too have to sing the praises of Cuzzin' Brucie Blue Bear! Having met him in person a few years ago and knowing him online for close 5 1/2 yrs, his knowledge in engineering is uncomparable!
Furthermore, he was one of 2 individuals who "twisted my arm" convincing me to get rid of my Beh gear and go in another direction as far as gear is concerned!

Bottom line, BEHRINGER SUCKS!!!!

This is true.. I try to stay out of Behringer bashing when it goes beyond the joking point but the back is Behringer equipment for the most part is worthless.

Behringer gear has it's place, they just haven't dug it yet.. LOL!
