Reread the thread, there was almost no constructive criticism here. Other than the comment to reorchestrate, it was all "that music sucks" or "those patches suck". That is not what this board *used* to be about. It *certainly* was not what the public mix contests were about. I guess you never saw those either.
And the Rumbles! were totally non-judgmental. If you had ever participated in one, you would know that. They were just a lot of fun.
Finally, I am not being judged here because this isn't my music. I dig it though. If your ears can't stand it, then keep your mouth shut. Didn't your mommy teach you that?
Note that doc didn't even asked for judgment, unlike a PMC which entrants knew would be scored (and there were prizes). Didn't stop a gang of yahoos from running their mouths though, did it?
I think what you are seeing is the real personality of the BBS. If this board has degenerated into sniping at music you don't understand, so be it. You know, the last Rumble! generated only two entries, vs. over a dozen for the first. Looking at the state of this board now, I wonder if another Rumble! would get more than one.
See ya . . . wouldn't want to be ya . . .![]()
Are you exhibiting what the this board used to be like?
What's with the chip on your shoulder? Have some class...fake it if you must.
I never said my ears couldn't stand it. I didn't comment on the music, yet. I don't believe that telling anyone to "beat it" if you don't like what they say is going to invite others to listen and comment, and possibly expand their own horizon on the possibilities and musical taste, if that is the goal. Stravinsky wasn't received well by the public at times, or other composers for that matter, but surely he understood why, and didn't throw a hissy fit which might distract from the innovation of his music and the possibility that others might recognize it if given a chance.
Alas, if it's not your music, perhaps you yourself should beat it and let Doc handle any criticism. You don't seem well suited for it.
