Geee thanks! Next time don't sugar coat it lol wtf!

"any suggestions are welcome....."

You asked for it,pal!

i like it.
especially the reverb effect you used on the end to make your voice really distant. care to share what you did?

only thing i'd have to say is the guitar is panned way too far left. i would say either pan the left channel in a bit or bring it down about 3dB.

i could hear some bass and drums w/brushes on this thing.
nice job

Nice tune. Vocal is expressive and well in tune. Rhythm guitar playing is solid. Vocal and guitar both sound just a little lacking in dynamics, so if it was compressed, I'd lessen that. The guitar sound make me suspect that a transducer is being DI'd and maybe mixed with a mic. If so, I'd just go with the mic, myself. My own preference also is to go without synth strings. Maybe add an ac gtr solo line as a counter to the vocal. Man I wish I could sing this well.

thats all it is man is reverb.......umm The Lexicon plugin that came with Sonar 3 pro.....forgot what its called...patheon or something like that I think.

mic is SP C1, straight into Motu 828

I will try your suggestion about the panning. I always have trouble with that, especially on songs like this where there is not much going on.

Thanks again!

Tim,
Thanks! lol yeah I have been on a synth string kick lately, but everyone keeps telling me to get rid of them lol. I would much rather play a gtr solo over it. I will do that tonight and then post a new version.

thanks again

Nice tune. Very good vocal delivery. Did you use some kind of pitch correction? I'm hearing some artifacts. There shouldn't be any mp3 compression artifacts, since the file is over 7MB. What's up with that?

The guitar sounds a bit too harsh for my taste. Did you mic it, or did you go direct?

Ah busted..........autotune lol my best friend....usually just set it to auto. Actually to tell you the truth I usually just throw it on there before I even listen to the track so I might not even need it.............lol

I will get rid of it....

as far as the 7mb file, im not sure........I will have to check and see what I encoded it at.....I have like 850mb worth of storage with my hosting company so Im not to worried about it. But I realize not everyone has high speed internet, so I will cut it back.

evhwanabe, I like the clear and clean vocals. It'd be nice to hear the guitar part just as clean, IMHO. Have you experimented with adding any harmonies yet?

Not sure what you mean "hear the guitar part just as clean"
different EQ?
less reverb?

Its a cheap Fender acoustic so I may be stuck with the sound. Im swapped out the stock pickup in favor of the LR Baggs dual source system (which is what I recorded this song with)
I could try just using my Studio Projects C1 or a combo of the both.

I haven't tried any Harmonies yet.......not sure where a good place for them would be.

Maybe on the "not me" parts. I will try some tonight.

thanks

Honestly, I don't know what would "fix" it but there's some distortion in my ears. For example, on the down strokes... I don't think it has anything to do with the guitar itself or your playing, but more like a drive-volume sort of thing where it's not as clear as it could be. Just my 2 cents, though. It's also fine as it is. :)

hmmmm I will take a look at it tonight, I am kind of a set the levels and its good for everything kind of guy lol, so maybe I was pushing it alittle with the guitar.

I'd like to hear the guitar thru a mic rather than direct.

I loved it! Great voice. Liked the acoustic, also.

I can hear congos on this, maybe another acoustic as Tim suggested. Love your tune! :)

I liked the way you ended also.

I hear some heavy noise in this mp3. maybe it's just the mp3 encoder, but it sounds like it's something in hte mix maybe. it's on the right speaker a lot - although it could be on the left but hte guitar is there mostly so it covers it up.

anyway, yeah - center that guit some more.

vocals are nice.

turn up the synth strings maybe?

Cool tune, I agree regarding the synth strings. Looking forward to hearing the guitar you plan to put over it...maybe an organ sound would work too?

I wouldn't mind hearing some harmony too, maybe in the part around 2:30-2:50.

Ok guys..........after about 12 bud lights or so last night I added a gtr solo and some harmonies to this

not me

Not sure about the solo..........I was having a hell of a time with it, just couldn't really find anything I liked.

I centered up the main guitar part. Im not sure what noise or distortion people are hearing. I try to keep it pretty high quality (hence 7mbs).
I use dbpoweramp (lame) to get from wave to mp3.

Thanks!

That's a nice sounding solo--I like the lilting/bending. Harmony sounds good, too. Nice job.

If you can't hear the guitar distortion, then maybe I'm just overanalyzing it. Besides, the addition of the new parts fills it out so I'm not just focusing on the voice and guitar. But here's where I hear specific instances of it... About 2:56 to the end where you play G to Em (I think) you can hear it on the lower notes.

Again, nice clean vocals.
