I just picked up a Bad Monkey Digitech pedal, from a store with no return policy. I'm using an old solid state Sonax amp Yorkville used to make in the 70s and a cheap Austin guitar (my girlfriend is going to trade it soon for a guitar, which I can't remember the brand of that sounds a lot better, with her dad). I can't get the tone I want, I know it's not distortion, but it's weak and grainy sounding. Could it just be the guitar (had the stock strings on it for a year and a half, I know, sad, but it's not my guitar and I'm lazy), or do I just not know the adjust this thing right?? Ahhh, it's not 79 bucks in Canada, unlike the 40 down in the States. Help...me...

I can post a clip too if need be.

For example, I just listened to sample clips off of musiciansfriend.com (I know it's obviously not going to sound exact due to guitar/amp combo) and *that* tone I like, but mine, sucks. Maybe the battery is half dead? I know with my friend when his battery is near dead it sounds kind of crappy.

dude get some new strings! a year and half course it's gonna sound dead - i wouldn't wish the liberines grainy distortion sound on anyone! :D new pickups - seymour duncans would seriously improve your tone whatever guitar you're playing but just buy a power supply for the pedal then uv got no worries with battery life.gd luck
